The Duck Thread

I'm so sorry, what happened?
I have no idea. This morning it was fine. Went in there and saw it was stuck in the corner with the neck hanging back over the back and kind of to the side. Looked nearly dead. Picked it up and it started chirping and opened its eyes. Then I set it down and noticed that it's legs were splayed out and when it tried to walk it just rolled over on its back. The neck and head looked like it had parkinson's or something..almost like a seizure though. It lived a little while talking to me and going in and out and then just died.

:(
Man, rough. So now the other duckling is freaking out. I went in there and sat with it for a while and cuddled. Not sure if we should get another duckling or just rehome the one we have...

Oh, so sorry you had to go through that. :( Which one passed away?

It's amazing how quickly we get attached. Hugs.

Thanks. It was the mallard baby. The wild one.
Do you have a small hand held mirror that doesn't have sharp edges? and a stuffed animal? they can help till you decide but I'd go for another duckling unless you know someone who would take this one. put the mirror down inside the brooder and the stuffy it will cuddle with.

I have a mallard duckling and 2 indian runner ducklings that are about 5 days old,it's about 80 degrees and I'm wanting to know if I can let them swim in shallow water in the kiddie pool?

water temp should be around 80-85 only problem I see with letting them swim outside is chilling, why not inside where there would be no wind and pat dry then right back under lamp to completely dry. Just a bit longer for outside swimming.
