The Duck Thread

One more of just Kristof. I'm just loving all the ducklings! I wish we lived on some land and I would have a ton!

My Cayuga ducklings are here! I ended up with 3 females and a male. And my injured black crested female, Ebony, has already adopted them. They are tucked under her right now. It is exactly want I hoped for. Ebony is going to be a mom and raise her companions!
So far the ducklings have only drank, but I added grow gel to their water. After they warm up under Ebony I will teach them where the food is. They were just hatched yesterday, so are pretty fragile. I am sitting next to the Ebony and her babies keeping an eye on things. To make sure she don't accidentally injure them.
Starfire that is awesome and very proud of Ebony to adopt them she'll show the all they need to know even where food and water is. Can't wait to see a pic of the happy family.

Here is Ebony with her 4 Cayuga ducklings. They have taken a couple bites of food. And stay close to Ebony. We are trying to figure out how to house tjem tonight. I was going to bring them inside. Didn't expect Ebony to accept them so quickly

That's so sweet! What a good duck you have :) love all the little ducklings around her.

I have to share another picture and say in beyond thrilled we brought are little Muscovy home with us! I love are two anconas, but watching Kristof was her little tail and wattle around and how she just plops down on her haunches is so cute. Ana and Elsa are adorable anconas, but I'm glad we have one Muscovy too

If it's nice and toasty where they are and no preds can get to them then maybe you should just leave them with her. They look very happy with their new mom. I just walked up on a 4'blk snake in our front yard which would make me very uneasy if i had ducklings or chicks.
