The Duck Thread

He is a good watch-drake. He keeps up an almost constant chatter while they are foraging. I noticed that when they are feeling nervous, the two ducks (the girls) actually shield Bean!!!

Hazel, Bean, Carmella, two duckies and their fella . . . .

Aww that's sweet. I am stuck between mallards and runners. If I get a mallard drake do you still think he will watch out for my girls?

Well, I actually wasn't aware that there was a law against owning wild Mallards. Funny, considering my next door neighbor is a cop. Even when I went on here asking how to care for her, nobody told me that it was illegal. x:

Welp, I guess it's a moot point anyways, considering I don't even have her anymore. ):

But, I have been attempting to re-bond with what's left of my flock - three Welsh Harlequins. They're very slowly coming around. Very, very slowly.

Here's a picture of Eris that I love! I just wish it wasn't so out of focus. =/

lol! Love that picture!!!!

If you lived next to a game warden, you probably would have found out. Migratory birds and most wildlife require permits to own. This is due to animal species being treatened by overcollecting and over-rescuing. It's sad to have to leave the animal, but this is for the long-term survival of the species.

That is a very cute duck!

two weeks old today!! Does anyone know about the age I'll be able to tell if they are drakes or ducks? (I know it'll be awhile just curious)

I have a mallard and indian runner duck(about 8-9 weeks old) I had 2 indian runners but a coon got one but I'm gonna get another indian runner and mallard so they can pair up when older. I'm wanting to fence in the garden and some yard so I can block off the garden and open the gait when it's grown enough so they can eat weeds, slugs, snails, bugs and clean up. How many of you have ducks in the garden?
