The Duck Thread

Prices of duck eggs vary by region, purpose and availability. Depending on where you live, what you want to use them for and how easy it is to find them around you.

Hatching eggs are obviously more expensive than eating eggs and usually get shipped. They can range from $0.50 to over $50 for one egg. Plus the cost of shipping.

Eating eggs are usually sold for about $3/dozen up. Maybe some people from your region should answer that question for you then.

That's what set my final price. Three people showed up at the same time and I only had one dozen eggs. Instead of taking a few each(for free) they started bidding on them. $10, I was stunned so I cut a buck and a half off that bid and set my price.

What breed does he look like the person at Tractor supply said he was a rouen but I don't think he is

He's not big though he's rather tiny like the size of a mallard but he shows no signs of trying to fly away
Do you want him too? if he is domesticated and bonded to one of your ducks then he may not fly off. domesticated Mallards don't have the instinct to migrate like the wild ones do. But they do love to fly. So if you want to keep him home you can always clip on wing of flight feathers.

Well I raised him with another male and I'm pretty sure they have become gay I was originally wanting females for my one male but that didn't go as planned

Not gay just doing what males do, they will try and dominate and mate the less dominant drake. Maybe when spring comes you can get some girls for those 2 boys they will really be happy about it. Drakes can live happily together as long as you don't add any females, but if you do makes sure they each have at least 3 apiece,

Whatever the reason, it is why my wife sentenced her Peking drake to bbq camp. She was not having it for any reason.

Are there any other Magpie duck keepers on this thread? They are a breed I've become quite fond of, and are harder to get than even Ancona, which are also critically endangered. Without fail, I get an egg a day from my girls, sometimes two eggs. No, those weren't eggs that were missed, they lay in the same place everyday, and the eggs are collected everyday.
This is my pair I bought them at t s c in February.
