Well, they're still only three weeks old, but I love the Cayuga. She's definitely my favorite. She's feisty and in charge and not afraid to take on the big ducks. The Welsh Harlequin is a sweetie and very even tempered, and she loves to cuddle. The Khaki is a bit more stand-offish, but she's coming around. My Blue Swedish HATES to be picked up or touched. She's a yeller, too. Non-stop peeping and talking from that one.

HeeHee too funny. Isn't it amazing that only 3 weeks, they have such different personalities! What is their relative size difference now?

Got to see my sister-in-law's Cayugas yesterday. 2 females, one male. They are sooooo beautiful! She also has a male appleyard that is gorgeous. All of them are lovely, but there is something about those cayugas. I might just have to get some...

Thanks I didn't think about that one. They look like pretty ducks so whatever he turns out to be I will be happy. I was hoping for a Swedish like they told me when I got him but its fine if he is something else he's such a good duckling

Um about this nothing does well confined, id rather my babies be safe than dead. We don't have a pond at our house but we will be starting them with a kiddie pool and building a small one when we move to the place we are buying. My neighbor has 7 Peking ducks and he uses a kiddie pool with them. These are domesticated ducks not wild ones.

Um about this nothing does well confined, id rather my babies be safe than dead. We don't have a pond at our house but we will be starting them with a kiddie pool and building a small one when we move to the place we are buying. My neighbor has 7 Peking ducks and he uses a kiddie pool with them. These are domesticated ducks not wild ones.

I agree 100%! I think they would love to have a huge nice pond with fish and frogs but like u said they are domestic animals and they live perfectly happy with there buddy's in a kiddy pool!

It's not like we caught these from the wild and made them pets!

Yep we can all have huge ponds on our property but these ducks aren't the same as wild ones. When I move to my own place I'm going to make them a small pond but mine do fine playing in my bath tub and drinking from a pan. And I have predators around my house stray cats, coyotes and they get close to my house, possums so id rather "confine" them to a dog lot and let them out to play supervised, than leave them lose to be killed and eaten or get out in the road and ran over, I've spent a lot of time bonding with my ducklings, they're pets and eggs are an added bonus. I keep my outside dogs in a large lot together instead of letting them roam free. Its for there safety at least they aren't on chains. What's the difference in a dog being in a large lot or ducks and chickens. We are supposed to try to keep them safe and not let them run lose on other peoples property right? I've kept my ducklings in a large storage tub with shavings food and water and they act happy not miserable

I'm going to get flock of three heavy breeds... Which breeds should I get. They will be for eggs and pets

I love my muscovy ducks. Their hiss sometimes throws people off, but if you are with them long enough you recognize it as them saying "hi" to you.

I love my Khaki Campbells. You can't beat the egg production. Four ducks and day after day four eggs. They live in the same run with 18 heavy hens and two roosters. All eat the same things and get along well. -DB
