Can I give my ducks b3 instead of niacin?
One of my ducks can't walk and I don't know Where to buy the right niacin since Walmart doesn't have it.
Niacin is B3, how about Brewers Yeast you can buy it at natural food stores i like it even better. ! tab to 1 cup of feed. How old is your duck? have you checked bottom of the feet for bumble, cuts splinters? see any swelling in the legs?

I've been adding Brewers yeast to my ducks feed but I think I've put in too much. Now they have intermittent diarrhea. No other signs of illness or even lethargy, just one runny smelly poop every now and then. The food and yeast gets mixed together when we fill their feeder. I figure they must get too much yeast sometimes.

Btw, our current setup seems to have beat them at their own little messy game!! The waterer isn't my idea. Someone posted about putting their waterer in the bottom of a pet taxi! Brilliant!!!! I went to Orschlens to find a better feeder idea and found a nifty little feed bin in the hamster/rabbit section. It hooks to the side of their cage and fills from the top. The sides of the trough were sharp, so I took some plastic tubing (sold by the foot in the next department over! Cost me .39), split it and superglued it on to the edges. Now it has soft edges. Good thing too! They take a bite and lean over to the water, take a bite, water.... Their bills would've been shredded. So my concern was warranted!
I wanted to add some grit since they get greens too, so I took one of the rectangle plastic baby food containers and super glued it on there too! You can see it on the left side of the trough. Couldn't be happier with that little feeder!

This pic was taken before my daughter got home from school and did her duck chores. In the morning, she makes sure they have "enough" for the day and cleans everything after school. Of course, I'm obsessed with them so I look in on them all day....

But they're hers and I don't want to take away the joy of replacing nasty food/water gruel every day. That would just be mean.

I've had it for over a little over a week now. It's still tiny. I have 6 ducks total (a pair that I've had 7 weeks) and another pair ive had only 2 days. Those Are fine except one of my 7 week old ducks is a crested duck. But back to my hurt one. It was fine the other day now the poor thing is hobbling everywhere. And the one I got with it is perfectly fine.:(

Some duckling just need more B3 than others. although is there a possibility it got stepped on?Are you keeping all of them together. The littlest may be getting tromped on by the older ones. How is your crested doing?

No.

No I got them all at different times. And I have my two biggest together and my other 4 together But two Are way smaller than the others.
And my crested is fine. It tumbles a little But eats and drinks well. It's more scared of me though.
