He's probably fine. Is he acting normal? Did he have access to different food/plants/different area to forage? My ducks' poo varies depending on what they've been eating. If he's acting okay he probably is.my ducks poop is a dark brown blackish color. it's not usually like that I'm wondering if he is sick or anything?
maybe she disapproves of people holding the babies does she react the same when they are on the ground? I had a duck hen that would have a fit if a person would touch the ducklings that I hatched in the bator and would then make the babies go with her away from us, but when the babies weren't around she would behave normally.I currently have 3 ducks that are 5 weeks old, and 9 (yesterday it was 10) duckies that are a week old. Eventually, I would like to get all of them together in the same coop/run. My two older khaki's love the little ones, they jump out of their pen while I am cleaning it and jump in with the little ones, talking up a storm the whole time, but my Pekin (who I just found out today is a female) get's her feathers in a fluff over the babies. She tries to bite them hard if you have one in your hand and she is out, then she tries to bite who ever is holding the younger one and gives an ear full while doing it. If you don't have a younger one, she is sweet as can be. :/
She seems to be a very jealous girl....![]()
How can I integrate her with all of them later? She has no problem with the khaki's, they have been together since the first day at a week old, it's just the younger ones. I have been keeping the pens near each other so they can see and hear each group.
You want to wait till your babies are as large as your Pekin and keeping them close together will help in making the transition when they are big enough. For some reason your Pekin see the new little ones as tresspassers and will have to get use to the new ones slowly. When you have time try to toss treats out like dried meal worms [once your new ducklings get around 2 weeks old when they are better able to keep out of your Pekins way] let them all eat the treats together if there is any aggression separate them so no one gets hurt. But keep trying this till they can all be together. Never leave them alone though with the older ducklings. You had 10 yesterday 9 today did one die? Your on the right track it just takes time.I currently have 3 ducks that are 5 weeks old, and 9 (yesterday it was 10) duckies that are a week old.
