The Duck Thread

That is so cute. I'd run if a duck came at me, head lowered and hissing.

I used to, until I got house ducks. Now I'm all like, c'mon, man. What're ya gonna do, clack me to death? Oop, ya got my shoelace, ruined my day!

Eeeeeeeeee, you are so cute and funny, Amykins. I love that. Wobbles ain't no threat. He a lil' house duck boy of smallness.

I think it is a myth. If you find Miss Lydia or Amiga and ask them directly they should know.

Mostly a myth. While many wild birds will reject an egg once it is tuched by a human it is rare for a domestic bird to do so. They are so acclimated to our smells and sounds that they tend to just ignore the fact that you touched their egg. More likely they will try to prevent you from touching them. I would make certain that my hands were clean but not smelling of soap. Mostly to prevent the transfer of something from outside the nesting environment to the eggs. You do have to be sort of quick and taking them from the nest say into the house and back again would probably not be wise.

Thank you so much ! I was also wondering if you would know why yesterday she broke an egg from the top, threw out the yolk and left the egg empty? it didn't have a baby or anything in it.. Could that mean that her other eggs wouldn't be fertile ?

Are you sure that she is the one that broke the egg, Were the insides around the broken egg? I ask because that sounds like something a predator would do. Skunks will brake and eat eggs but you would have probably noticed the smell. Also, Raccoons will brake and eat and egg though they would probably have gone after the goose itself.
