The Duck Thread

So I just had a chance to candle all 12 eggs in momma a nest. Most seem very close in development, 3, are days behind. Actually closer to the ones I'm incubating. So I decided to leave all the eggs with momma, give her a chance to do what she will. All 12 had heartbeats and movement, good air cells too. Momma is back on the nest and we'll see how it goes. I will candle again in a week. I would say day 14-18. 3 being around 8-10. She's doing well for a first clutch. I am going to have to build a temporary pen around her VERY soon.

You can always take the other eggs when she leaves the nest with the ones that hatch first. and let them finish in the bator.

Holy smokes give it some space it is an animal you know. An animal that poops a lot. I don't know what I think about it being stuck in your cardigan pocket especially.
She has plenty of space. I had to take her because when I left the room she was so hysterical, I wwas worried she would make herself poorly. That is why im getting her a friend.

And you are doing exactly the right thing. However, she will have bonded/imprinted pretty strongly with/on you so anticipate some real apprehension on her part when she first meets her new duck companion. Be patient, it will all work out over time.
