The Duck Thread

Hey, girl, put the thing down long enough for it to hatch!!!

LOL. I know it's hard. Been there, done that, especially the holding it up to the ear to hear the peeping part. LOL.

I'm a meddler, no breaking me of it! And I can hear it peeping through the incubator!!!
I had to pick it up and take it off its stand and put it on the floor of the bator. All my eggs are on rings. I hand turn and it keeps them at a slant.
This one is actually wiggling though! I've not had the others do that!!!
Now, we wait... Thank goodness my show has a marathon on!!

The wiggling, if you mean the egg is rocking on the floor, is a good sign. All my more active ducklings, usually the ones that don't need help extracting themselves from their eggs, do that. They typically hatch a lot faster. (Keep in mind I don't have the same breed you do.) I had one about three months ago rocking to the point the egg was rolling a little on the floor, but not even externally pipped. I went back 2-3 hours later to check what was happening and found a fully hatched ducking in the bator!

Oh ya, this ones moving right along!! And with the two that just hatched, he'll have brooder company!!!
Then I have 8 days before the next group!!!

It's almost 9 pm. You should just go to bed for now and see what's going on tomorrow morning after you sleep in until 10.

Aww, sleep! I am actually a true insomniac. I only sleep for an hour or so and I get up at 3 for work! The week days are easier, I work evenings and can nap during the day. Staring into an incubator, even with nothing happening, can keep me occupied for 6-7 hours at a time.

I was j/k anyway. I work normal hours and have stayed up all night with no sleep for hatches, especially for the ones where the ducklings were struggling.

So I have to ask, what's your marathon show?

Big Bang Theory! Now anyway, then Golden Girls, then Fraiser, when Cheers comes on, it's coffee time!!!

Fraiser is my all-time favorite comedy, one of those shows I had a hard time accepting the fact that it was over. I love Golden Girls and still watch it when I catch it on TV, though I didn't do the sequential watching like I did with Frasier. I like Big Bang from what I've seen of it but don't really seek it out. Maybe I should. I'm kind of lukewarm on Cheers. Right now, I'm working my way through Psych, which I like a lot better than I expected to when I started.

I tried psych, couldn't get into it. Cheers, only because my other 200 channels are infomercials and news!!!!! One of my secret favorites is Rosanne! (Shhh, don't tell!) there's a BBC show called Upstairs Downstairs that I even bought, I loved it so much!!!

I couldn't get into Psych through most of the first season because I had just finished Medium and Psych was a "similar show" recommendation. It was really nothing like Medium, so I struggled through kind of half watching it for most of the first season. I came to like it enough to be in the process of finishing it, but it's not on my top 20 list of shows I've ever watched.

My favorite BBC show of all time is Fawlty Towers. There was only one season of that, but I've seen it enough times that I can recite along with the episodes when I replay them, which I still do.
