The Duck Thread

Little bit of funny from the brooders today.

Obviously, the babies are too big for brooders and they are getting a but smooshed...but my bedroom is small and at this moment is the only safe place for them so I can't break them up. Anyway I walk in my room to visit them and there is wobbles perched on the side of the brooder. Chattering away at the anconas in the next brooder. It was so cute. No camera on me of course.

I plopped him back down in his brooder and had to go to the basement and bring up an old screen door to put over all four brooders. Oh, duck coop..we need you...

@suzy4027
 - your "hooligans" (LOL) are beautiful.  You always give me giggles.  Sorry, I'm really no help with the neighbor's ducks.  They are precious!
@City farm
 - that's an awesome picture of Rick.  I've never heard of water lettuce, but glad they're all enjoying it!
@Miss Lydia
 - Shirley is absolutely gorgeous!!  Please give her love from me, too.  Then please have her give you a hug from me.  :hugs
@Wobbles
 - keep on sharing!  Love your pics!!

:hugs here ya go.

:love
More.. :clap

Each duck seems to have her own optimal nutrition. I add an extra 50 to 80 mg of calcium per duck even though we use quality layer and oyster shell. Romy gets extra on top of that.

I love that you post these just for me regarding their webs. Thank you.  It is just the combination of cute that sets me into orbit.  I also love this pic because you can see the top of their little heads and that's exactly where I'd kiss them.

Newer pic of them... had to give you Burn's cute head tilt look... :)

Seriously adorable .. If only people knew how much fun duck's were. :goodpost:

Random question.... What are my ducks sassing me about when they are walking away from me, but bob their head back towards me? They look like they dropped something and have looked back at it, but that stupid lady keeps herding us, so we can't get it!!!! It's a quick motion, like the straight head bobbing mating dance. I'm pretty sure they aren't thinking I'm worth flirting with when they do it. The look like they'd rather stick their tongue out at me. They kept trying to run past me to visit the neighbors tonight and had me playing goalie. Hacked me off. Bunch of snotty toddlers! Lol. They had their sassy pants on tonight. Worst part of it....?! They were still cute and funny. Dang it.

You need to listen to their quack's.. Sometimes they want food, other times, "stay away from my wife" other's.. HAY, look mom is here, or "there they go again!!" when we leave the house, Rick will follow me.. He say's.. " see you in a bit". Tehee..
But most of the time, if you have a drake he will try to keep you away from his wife.. Or he will try to submit you by nibbling on you.. I just submit him by holding him down gently for a bit. They are always quacking something.. It is funny. AND I am sure my neighbors think I am crazy for talking back to them.. Just pay attention to his movements.. You'll figure it out.. But really, just give them a treat & teach them "bug" or "treat" & "come here" they are smart.. They bobble their head because their eye's can see 2 different things at one time.. They can't see like us.. Plus they can see under water.. You can see the extra eyelid.. Idk, but sounds good huh..:lau. :confused:
