I was referring to the ducks that your cousin was going to give you.
I have no drakes, only hens.
Sorry this was so confusing.I think you might have misread... she got 2 ducks/hens from her nephew and is planning to get a few ducklings to raise and add to them so if anything happens, there isn't a single duck living alone...
She can order them sexed so there isn't a heavy drake ratio...![]()
Please correct me if I'm wrong, but from our convos this is your plans, yes?![]()
Sorry this was so confusing.
Quote: Nope! I can't slaughter! I know that is terrible, I eat meat but I can't do it myself! Chicken????(maybe Duck)??? LOL If I get attached to them I certainly couldn't eat them! I just enjoy watching the do their duck thing. Ducks at my place are spoiled! Truly pets!
Sorry this was so confusing.
Presently I have 2 Pekin hens that were given to me (from my Nephew). I am going to be getting 5 or 6 sexed (hens) ducklings in May so that if anything happens to one of my ducks the other one won't be alone. I want the ducklings sexed so that I don't end up with the "drake" problem. My nephew has had a drake kill a few of his hens and soft heart that I am I don't think that I could stand that!
Again....sorry for the confusion!
Mandy
So far my husband says NO!! NO DUCKLINGS! NO MORE DUCKS! He has consented to letting me get these in May to increase the flock by a few. Since he has to chase them out of his shop, I guess I have to listen (at least this time!) lol. But he IS coming around. He knows that I really enjoy them so he puts up with them. You're fine, was just trying to avoid confusion, lol...
There are good drakes and some turn out aggressive, just like with roosters... I've found best luck raising a younger boy with older girls in both kinds... if you do end up wanting to try havijg a drake for them, that might be a good idea...![]()
I believe they are khaki campbells....mallard and indian runner mix??? one is a year old, the other is 3 yrs old and the tail is actually tucked down towards the ground. they will walk very slowly, dragging their tales and sometimes just stop like they are hurt. if i go near them, they will try to run away but it's hard for them to run w/ their tales like that so they end up dragging their tales and flapping their wings like something's wrong. if they do it again i will video it...dk why i didn't think of that yesterday when i saw it.
Weebeep. Yes, we can. Let me round some new ones up and I will post away. Teehee. Thank you @needlessjunkShe has honorary mini duckscan we get a pic @Julie Bird ???![]()
