The Duck Thread

Ducklings first day in the sun. This is the second time they have had their swim in the paint roller pan. Loving it! It was 90 degrees here today so I took them out and put them in an enclosure on the grass. Should of mowed first, poor things were wading through the clover.

They were very interested in the big ducks in the BIG yard but the older hens couldn't of cared less! LOL Hopefully they will look at each other later.

I have been trying to upload pictures, but BYC website doesn't seem to like JPEG images larger than 2.5 MB. Anyone else having this problem? If the image is over 2.5 it hangs up 2/3 of the way through uploading. What am I doing wrong???

Miss Lydia, thanks for the idea of an appliance box. I went to a furniture store near us and they had two huge boxes! Problem solved.

Debs Flock: thanks for the idea on the watermelons, unfortunately they aren't in season as of yet.

Can someone explain to me how I respond to multiple quotes in one post. I just don't understand!
On the first post you want to respond to click 'multi' and any others you want, then on the last post you want to respond to click "quote"

Are you loading these to a thread or trying to use them for your Avatar? I think Avatars are limited to 2.5MB. I have loaded several images over 5MB today. I know the Gold Feather membership (which I have) increases total storage, but I don't think it has anything to do with maximum size.

This image is 5.3MB:

Hey everyone, so Im getting some ducklings on Friday or saturday from the local feedstore and i was a little disappointed with the breeds they were ordering. They will have Pekins, Runners, and Rouens..  they said will be ordering mallards and/or khakis from the overhatch if they're available for me, but if not, can anyone enlighten me as to which of the three breed would be the best choice? I am looking for pet material, and ive already somewhat ruled out pekins as they are not my type. but i dont know much about rouens other than they're a meat breed and idk anything about runners really. pictures of  yours would be great too! :)

I have a question: how do we limit the water the baby ducks splash on the floor. I had a baby chick just hrs old die. Because I sat her with the ducks a minute. She got knocked into the water. Before I could switch everyone around in time. My partner worried about the walls and mold and the wires to dry underneath it wet. And the bookshelfs they where under. More should hopefully be born these week. And more chickens. I don't want another death.

Is there anyone you can talk to at the lake, they may be eager to get them a home especially if you tell them about how letting wild and domestics breed it messes up the gene pool of the wild but then again you may have to take home the whole lot then.

Too bad the Lucky Duck isn't closer. I have contacted the country animal control. They are going to contact me if any ducks need homes. I also wrote an article for the local paper urging people not to purchase live animals for Easter baskets. I might check with the city police station about getting a few ducks from the "lake.". As you said, I might end with them all probably all the geese as well :)

I know marble help baby chicks. It doesn't serve older ones. There in baby's coop know. But it didn't help these morning trying to change everything over. The baby ducks did the same thing in other coop.
