The Duck Thread

That's how Snow was. She only ever quacked once. It was an ear splitting peep that turned into an ear splitting quack and I think it surprised her even. But she talked all the time. Most of the time she would mutter under her breath but other times she would just chatter, but she always had on opinion on everything... How I cleaned the house. New additions to the yard. Changes to feeding / drinking equipment. EVERYTHING

We miss her a lot. But it looks like Allie might be the same way... She is so much more observant than the rest of the brood.

Seems like Pekins are like that! I have 2 grown hens that are ALWAYS talking/muttering under their breath. Especially if they see me. LOL

I was in the "upload photos" in the "my profile" page. I though that the label "chilling with peeps", "flock master" etc. was given to you because of the number of posts you make. Interesting! Where else can I upload photos if not on "my profile" page?

Thanks!
You are right on the "chilling with peeps", etc. You can buy a GF membership (totally optional) to help support BYC. Then you get that flag plus if you want you can choose what you want for the "chilling with peeps" line. For example, mine is "Leader of the Quack" which is not a "normal" level.

While you are entering this, there is a bar on the top and one of the icons is to embed a picture where you are typing. Maybe they have a limit on the pictures you put in your own gallery. When you put them in a post, they show up below your albums as embedded photos (each thread will show up as its own album). I have a couple albums, but most of the pics I upload, I upload in posts like I did above.

If that is the case, then as far as I'm concerned, that is just another reason Pekins make great pets. To me they seem smarter and more observant of things that aren't "duck" than the rest of my flock. Whenever I did things involving hammering or power tools that was OBVIOUSLY not treats, Snow would come over fairly close but at a safe distance and watch. Then when I was done, she would comment on it and go off on her own. I would love if Allie did that...

I have a sub flock, most of my females and one of my males, every morning (when they get turned out in the summer) this group goes for a morning stroll. Same path every day. Each female stops where her nest is, deposits her egg and on they go. The whole time everyone is muttering and stopping and grabbing a quick snarfle in the boggy spots. They remind me of the little old ladies, in their running suits, walking the mall before it opens!! Gossiping and chatting, window shopping and more gossiping!!!

Two of my black Runners are lound but one is more Quiet.

This is bandit who has a more horse sounding I guess squeek? And he / she is smaller then my other two would that make my Black Runners two females and a male? I've owned ducks before but not Black runners so any advice would help please and thank you.

She is saying Hello!!! This little Pekin is very personable already!

Me just laying out and chillin' with the babies. Notice the two older ducks in the background and our "white" dog laying under the tree. She has decided that the babies are hers. She guards them when they are in their box and outside. You never know when one of those nasty older ladies might attack! Gotta keep your eyes/ears open.

Second day of fun in the sun.

Do you know how to upload from your phone? I finally got the larger pictures to upload, guess it was just a bad night. I was trying to do it from my phone but I can't find the correct page to upload pictures in the mobile mode.

Thanks!

What is a GF membership? Where to I find information on it? I use BYC a LOT, I wouldn't mind helping support it.

On my phone, I get the desktop site without asking specifically for it on firefox, chrome and dolphin... I must have set something on BYC to get this. This is fine for me but it makes answering your question harder. In the editor on the BYC app (which looks kind of like the mobile site), in the reply blank, there are 4 buttons: Bold, link, pic and @ (to flag a user). Hope that helps...
