The Duck Thread

try craigs list might find some there needing homes real bad.

Yeah I've looked there, its more convincing my husband that we really need to have more girls... (to him that's more eggs to deal with!) There were some pekin girls for sale..... and we ended up putting our pekin male down a couple weeks ago now and he was his favorite

What reason? Just too many drakes? Well just because they are Pekin girls they would still fit in. Maybe you can convince him about the over mating if not enough females. All spare duck eggs here go to my dogs and up to the reconciliation house for the needy

well we have been at 2/2 since we got our first group last year which worked ok since our pekin drake was not at his best most of the time so wasn't trying to mate much, but our mallard drake is pretty frisky and is happy to mate both the females (he isn't very successful with our welsh, shes just too big for him to get the job done so he tries, a lot, pulling all her feathers in one spot on her neck). We had babies and were planning to keep 2 females and (with losing our pekin drake) 1 male, well we lost 4 of the babies and the surviving one is Lucy/Luca. so we are back to 2/2(?). he isn't against a better ratio just more mouths to feed :) I need to find out if there is someplace local that would take chicken and duck eggs like that since we get way more than us and my husband's co-workers can consume. Do you cook just scramble the eggs for the dogs?

Last year I fed ten ducks a 50lb sack in three to five weeks, mine often leave full feeders in favor of foraging in the woods.
