I was intrigued by this coop design from Holland.

"Urban chickens have an upscale coop in Dutch designer Frederik Roijé’s Breed and Retreat. The elegant wooden coop offers chickens an opportunity to lay their eggs and then move into different areas of the structure for rest and privacy."

Yes, my non chicken owning sister in law emailed that picture to me a while ago. My reaction to it was the person who designed that probably has never even seen a live chicken, much less taken care of one.

The design is beautiful, yes, but completely impractical. My guess is that all the chickens would go to the top level and ignore the rest. And what a nightmare it would be to clean all those boxes! How would you get in there? And where's the ventilation?
