Thank You and I don't know the the answer to either yet.CONGRATULATIONS!! She's lovely. How old is she? Do you know her egg color?![]()
Hi Everyone.
I am a first time poster to this thread, but I have been following it for a while. I wanted to share some pictures of my EE'ers. They are just short of a year old. The women I got them from said she crossed Americana hens with either white leghorns or Andalusians roosters. I love the way they look. They are egg laying machines. They all lay sky blue eggs. I have 6 birds and I get 5 or 6 eggs a day. They are hands down my best layers.
Have a look.

And the black too?Beautiful birds, I would guess that Andalusian was a very busy boy. Only way to make blue and splash is using blue - and white leghorns are dominant white so all the chicks from him would be solid white!
Thank you. This is just the information I wanted to hear. There wouldn't be any blacks from the Leghorn. There could be from the Andalusian - just missed out getting any of the Bl (blue) gene and so is just black. The blue gene turns anything that is black into blue (one copy) or splash (two copies). The black and white hens could be from the leghorn maybe (white with leakage) but they look more like splash (blue EEs x Blue Andalusian).

To improve your chances of keeping the blue egg gene in the future generations I would use a rooster from a blue egg. With your coloring I would suggest a blue Ameraucana (real deal - not feedstore).
