Wow, that's an unusual coloring. Do you know the parentage - or was that a chick pickup? Do you have any chick pictures? I WANT ONE OF THOSE!

That's sort of what I thought my boys were going to look like - until they started crowing...

I got her point of lay in Western North Carolina. I would guess there is some Silver Laced Wyndotte in there some place. I bought her and 3 others that were supposed to be pullets. Wound up with 2 roos. the farmer did let me trade them though. I want to go back and get more.

RIP sweet Penny. Lost her when my sons puppy escaped.

This one was the sweetest, but I already had these pretty boys.

I have 3 EE Ameraucana pullets in the brooders now. One is solid white so I guess that makes it a true Ameraucana I guess I can name it Princess Snooty Booty.

Oh... I just got rid of my Leghorn Roo so all I have is EE. At the end if the month I'm going to hatch out some EE's and see what I get. So far they have all looked like chipmunks, but that would be the Leghorn in them too. I will post picks when the time comes.

Oh I love the chipmunk stripe! One of my EE chicks had one of them. :)

Wow! One of my EEs looks like that! My girl is a cross between a black EE bantam and a Silver Sebright. ChickNmamma, you can breed one!

Thank you, if I ever have both of those I will cross them. Not a real fan of the Sebrights though - I have met a few I didn't like (or they didn't like me, I don't know).... Maybe I can use a Lavender Split rooster over something with lacing - like a silver laced Wyandotte.. hmm.... Thanks for the Ideas!

I did this recently with an older pullet...went great til breakfast time then she got her butt kicked :( not bad but definitely wasn't used to not being top bird as at her last home. Took about 3 days of me hoovering *thinking* they might hurt the determined new girl...they didn't, just nipped/chased. Now its been a few weeks and they're all buddies.

Kay, so this doesn't exactly apply straight to EE's, but I was wondering if anyone has introduced chicks lately. I'm wanting to introduce my four chicks (when they're ready) by putting them on the roost at night when my hens are sleeping. Has anyone tried that, and if so did it go as planned or did it go horribly wrong?

Horribly wrong and I was adding three GROWN pullets.

Your chickens will not be fooled. So, it's a gamble how they'll react to the tiny intruders. I hear stories of rainbows and lollipops but my hens don't take invasion lightly and there is no Welcoming Committee.

I have four seven-weekers that I'm slowly introducing to the adult flock now. Five hens have accepted them and are even extending an olive branch (dust bathing together and such). One chases the chicks and is rather rough and relentless about it. No way would I want her in an enclosed space with four-week chicks! So, it will be many more weeks, I think. But, I am ranging them together so I think this will work itself out eventually. BTW, grumpy hen is one of those three I cold-turkey introduced. She was not the one who caused the problem the last time (it was a rooster and he's no longer around).
