yep the feathering looks right to me, they go thru that ugly teenager stage when the down is falling out and feathers are replacing it. They can be pretty scary looking until all feathers are in, lol. The comb area I can't see well enough, but if it is a pea comb it will look wider than your single comb varieties. They tend to go upward where as the pea comb widens out and thickens. I have some peacombs on some of my barnyard mixes that are 6 weeks old today. I can definitely tell the difference between the peacombs and single combs. I also know with having multiple ones at the same age and similar mixes which ones are roo's. Their combs are already pinking up. The little girls are staying yellowish.Ok, she's got some ugly feathers going on. Is this normal?

She looks so sweet with those little muffs and beard! I don't think her feathers look ugly at all - she looks like a down pillow!
Whew! Just that awkward stage. Haha! It's probably not a very clear pic of her comb. I can it looks a lot different than what my single comb ladies looked like. I have one from the same batch that's the runt and we are talking BIG TIME runt but she's (hopefully) doing well. Her comb looks like it's sticking up more so maybe Candy will be an Andy haha!
Thanks for the information. I can rest easy knowing her feathers are normal. Poor girl.

Yep, the ugly teenager stage. But the ugly ducklings turn into swans after that!
And since you don't want the very small one to get a complex, instead of calling her a runt, just say she is a Bantam![]()
