Although Cackle has a separate flock of LF black Ameraucanas, they originally bought that stock to improve egg color in their Easter Eggers.  I haven't talked to the owner there lately, but I have to assume they bred some LF black Ameraucanas with the Easter Eggers as intended. 

It would make sense to do so when you have the resource available on site. I wonder how their AM sales were this Spring?

Cackle is good for keeping with honest breed descriptions and improving their stock, they are still a hatchery but their birds are closet to standards than many I've seen.

They only offer unsexed chicks for $10.90. They've been sold out for months now.

I think that's good for the breed. I imagine other hatcheries will jump on board soon.

Right! If enough hatcheries start offering true Ameraucana, they will be forced to finally call their Easter Eggers, Easter Eggers. Otherwise, how else will they differentiate the two?

heres a 3rd chick with foster mum 4 eggs to go

the brood so far, the back 3 marked and the black one are siblings
the front marked one came from a clean faced long combed araucana (suspected cross) as she looks nothing like the other hen
the yellow one is our 1st EE and upon inspection seems rumpless

the 4 marked and the yellow hatched on day one, the black on day 2,
we have had a 7th hatch today on day 4,
i think it may be a bit premature, and think maybe the broody initially holed it with all her in out the nest activity, we did see her tread on it at one time and broke all down one side, there seemed to be a lot of egg white still inside, she was fully out the shell an hr later and the shell gone, ive tried to stop the mum walking on her and tried to keep her warm during mums activities with the other chicks and slipped her back in after she resettled.
she is moving, but doesnt seem to be fluffing up as fast as the others did, all i can do is hope for the best, if she makes it to this evening it will be safer for her through the night, . then if she makes it through tomorrow she should hopefully be able to walk a bit



chick 7 died after 6 hrs, i tried to protect her best i could, but i think she got trodden on once too often,
found it on its back while mum was out in the coop with the 6 chasing flies, she was just breathing, with obvious signs of injury,
so i put her in a cool place and allowed her to pass, the final egg was also removed and found to be all yolk.
