The EE braggers thread!!!

vebyrd36
I don't want to burst any bubbles and I'm no expert, but I have a feeling both those chicks are boys, they look very young and already a lot of comb showing.
speaking of boys does anyone know how much an ee roo crows? anyone in florida want an ee roo? if not he'll be joining me for dinner.

I am hoping for 2 green or blue eggs out of my 2 EE's. I have 13 chickens all the same age, the 3 younger chickens I know are already laying. I'm pretty sure the EE's aren't laying yet. We are getting 6-9 eggs aday. So far the Marans are laying the darker brown eggs (a few really dark), the rest of the eggs are a light brown to creamy pinkish. So I'm really hoping for a different color

Here is a head shot of the comb (they are almost twins, hard to tell them apart), maybe you could give your ideas on possible egg color? Sorry not the best pictures, they are fast movers & my phone doesn't snap pictures very fast. They have green legs, tiny combs & brownish eyes. They don't seem to be doing much squating like the rest of the group so I'm assuming they aren't ready to lay. The first Marans the same age as the EE's started laying the week of Christmas. The 3 that are a few weeks younger started laying the 1st week of Jan. Mine are all hatchery but not sure which hatchery my uncle gets them from.

I know EE's tend to be late layers, read that here on this group & we are getting more then enough eggs as is we can't keep up lol. So that's no problem. I'm just wondering if anyone has a guess on to if I will get a green egg? I'm getting so many light brown to pinky colored eggs I'm hoping for green that way I know its them laying.

Here's my pullet/hen...she doesn't have a name yet & the woman I bought her from said "she's about a year old or so." She hasnt laid the first egg in the month that I've had her. If something doesnt happen soon, she'll have a name alright..."Sunday Supper."

a lot of them also and that looks like a fine flock. do not be worried about the time that then start to lay. They will lay and then you will have too many but then if you have some in the incubator you are already there. What color are their eggs ?

Shannon all I know is that some birds take longer to develop and longer to start to lay but those that seem longer to develop do lay longer.

Well it's been awhile since I posted here, lost a few pullets and gained a few since. All my girls are laying now so Here are some up to date pictures:
All of my EE's are very productive layers except for one who lays about every other day, and all are very friendly and calm, not flighty or skittish in the least!

Unfortunately I lost my two favorites, first the crossed beak chicken who just couldn't compete with the others for food (...lesson learned !)--lived till 6 months
Lost my most beautiful pullet from unknown causes. Her eggs were blue

Here is my rooster. He is half Easter Egger and half Araucana.

This pullet is the only one I have with yellow legs

She lays a mostly blue extra large egg with a slight green tint!
Also have a silver chicken that looks a lot like her with dark legs that just started laying blue eggs as well I believe.

My pretty Chili Pepper! Lays a blue egg. Also had another that looked a lot like her that I lost to a hawk.

I've never really known what to call this color? She is black with some barring. First to lay, very consistent egg machine. Perfect blue eggs from her! I thought she was going to be rumpless for a long time, she got her first tail feathers in at 4-5 months.

Oh Boy. This one is known as "Crystal Meth"

if you meet her, you'll find out its the perfect name for her. Jumpy, extremely nosy, allways into everything and under your feet. Likes to sit on your shoulder and stare right into your face. Not much of a good layer, lays a dull green egg to match her green legs!
