The EE braggers thread!!!

A pea x rose comb (RR/PP, Rr+/PP, Rr+/Pp, or RR/Pp) is a cushion comb

Wouldn't that make Cushion combs NOT breed true then, making Malays not breed true?

rhs7111 - Nope, sorry. Color has nothing to do with egg color. Your best bets if you want BLUE eggs is by getting real Araucanas or Ameraucanas, or getting Easter Eggers from someone who bred them and knows the offspring will lay blue eggs.

No, a cushion comb can genetically be RR/PP, Rr+/PP, Rr+/Pp, or RR/Pp, but only an RR/PP cushion comb will breed true.

I'm not that knowledgeable on comb genetics, leg color genetics either.

Illia, You might admit to not being knowledgeable on comb / leg genetics but you more than make up for on your understanding of the body color patterns. Your post on here have given me some sort of grasp as to the workings of the different standardize colors and patterns. As far as body color having any determination on the egg color, by my own experience raising EE's my solid white hens were most prone to laying the "pink" eggs than other colors. It did take a few years to weed out the green egg layers from my flock and body color didn't really seem to be a factor of green or blue.

Well now you people have gotten me addicted to these beautiful chickens, I didn't order any with my order, I considered it for the blue eggs, but after seeing all the cool colors and the eggs on this thread I went to TSC and bought me 3 babies to replace the 3 DOA's in my order, chicken math added 3 black sexlink pullets as well, I will post pictures of the 3 tomorrow, I got 1 very light colored 1 with grayish spripes, a medium light colored 1 and a dark almost black brown colored 1, I can't wait to see how they feather out.
Funny thing is I wasn't impressed with the pictures of the Easter eggers at purely poultry and a few hatcheries online, but I sure got addicted quit on this thread they may turn out to be my favorites, and next year I will have to get a bunch. TY all Kim
