The EE braggers thread!!!

Thank you all for your advice. I've been nervous about vaccinating the ones who don't seem affected because so many say not to vaccinate if they have it. How do I know they have it or don't if they don't have black spots? The vet has them all on tetracycline and I read in the thread that it might not do anything but keep infection down. The vet also sold me eye drops for the two who have runny, irritated eyes. The eye on the Am mix does not seem improved and I can't open her mouth; she fights too much. I have her separated because the others were picking on her. I have her age group in one chicken tractor and I have the four older hens in their own tractor but apparently if this is spread by mosquitoes, that won't help much. By the way, I've learned the hard way that my feed store does not vaccinate chicks. Needless to say I have gotten no pictures.

This is my "Rare Breed" EE from the Hatchery for free. I think you guys call them packing peanuts. I think I was lucky and got a pullet. She is very friendly, jumping on my shoulder, and to the highest roosting stick. No name yet, thinking Raven.

Bill,

Are you in Jacksonville FL? If so I can help you out with EE's we have a large flock of them, and have another set of eggs in the bator now. We grow them out and butcher the Roos that don't sell, and offer hens out of every hatch once they are old enough to know they are girls.

Ok I have a question, I read that Ameraucana's don't taste like chicken, I think they taste like quail or something gamey, what do EE taste like? Your method is what we are going to have to do, but I was just unsure about the meat on the EE.

Haven't noticed a difference in taste between the two. Because they are a slow grower (unlike Cornish meat birds) they are best for soups and roasting.

Ours, and we have butchered several different kinds of chickens, but the EE's taste like all the rest. Just don't expect them to be like the store bought birds.
