Can't wait to see how they transform...I tried to pick out ones that would give me a variety in the end.
It's so much fun to "wait and see" watch you're getting...then the eggs!!Just added these two, kind of goldish white with orange showing up.

This one is interesting, just a blue smudge on her back...she's not a stark white either, kind of an off white.

This one below is all white.

Just added these two, kind of goldish white with orange showing up. I don't have any earlier pics of them, but I did see them when they came in and they were all white like the all white one in the above pic.

i cant wait to see what they look like when they are fully grown! their puffy cheacks are sooooo cute!

EE's are a highly unappreciated breed. They are unique and beautiful. I saw two of Katy's EE's today and the Roy one is precious. It has a beard that is bushy and full and black. The other one is adorable too and the first of that color for her.

Katy... we need pics....

you're just in love with Puffer cheeks! Both of those babies came from Bob . . . so get to breeding with him! Put him with some of those Marans so you can get Olive Egger Puffer Cheeks!

my daughter named one of them Miss Puffy Cheaks and one Chipmunck because it always looks like a chipmunck with its cheaks full , its the only one that still has the chipmunck coloring for some reason but i noticed she is geting in more greyish feathers in now.

question.....i've looked through a lot of these pictures (which....btw, all are beautiful birds!!!) but i've noticed that some EE don't have the green/slate legs.....some are yellowish or whitish...???

Rustywomen,

I must disagree with your statement "EE's are a highly unappreciated breed." I just tried to change an order from a hatchery and add some EE's - they couldn't do it - someone out there is appreciating a large number of them through May!

They are a mixed breed chicken with some Araucana or Ameraucana blood in them a ways back, or not so aways back. They often have certain traits, like willow or slate legs, muffs and a beard, pea comb, laying blue eggs, but not always. There is no standard for EEs

Part of the beauty of the EEer is that you don't have worry about the details like leg color, eye color, body shape, etc..... I think the only requirement for a bird to be an EEer is that it carry at least one copy of the blue egg gene and thus lay either blue, green, or blue/green eggs. Sometimes they lay "pink" or brown eggs when that blue egg gene is not presenting. The roosters need to carry at least one copy so that they can pass it on to their daughters. The phenotype possibilities with the EEers is endless and all a person needs to know is if they like the looks of a particular bird or not! It's just a fun breed. If you're looking for a chicken that lays a blue/green egg and you like to know what to expect in the birds appearance, or you like to show your chickens, then you want an Ameraucana or an Araucana - two separate breeds with breed requirements.

I just hatched out 19 EE chicks, MY EE girls with various males, only two of them got the green legs but with EEs even that could change with time, and only a few have beards and some with beards and muffs but really if i didn't know which chicks were EE mixes i wouldnt be able to tell, With most of the chicks you know the daddy is honeycomb my light brahma boy about 14 of the EE chicks look just like him in color and all are sweet as they can be. But that is the most wonderful part of having EEs is the mystery of what they will eventually turn out to look like. Anyway i just love my EEs!
