The EE braggers thread!!!

Those are pretty young for butchering, at least, around here they would be. I wait at least 5 months. You sure Sleepy and Whitney are boys? With so much back exposure in that photo I don't see any saddle feathers at all.

Whitney is a pullet. Sleepy I've been questioning but she's not on the cull list. Babs and Betty are the two older ones who're being done. So early because the quail are also being done today and it's just easier to do them all at the same time. The two bantam boys have a partial pardon so hopefully I can find them homes.

Dana she sure is pretty ! What do her eggs look like. I see what could have been beard once removed. But I can see where you could think that she has arcana in her since her ear tuffs if that is what they really are are pronounced.

Thanks, Flower! She lays a huge medium green egg... probably the largest consistent egg layer that I have, and she lays almost every day. I've often wondered just what she is, since it's a great cross!

This is one of my EEs, Caramel. I got her from a friend that was moving into non-chicken-friendly housing, so I have no idea on her parentage. (I assumed she was a hatchery bird.) Caramel doesn't have the standard muff & beard; it almost seems like she might have something more like Araucana ear tufts, although not as pronounced.

I tried so hard to get her to look at me head-on yesterday, but she was much more interested in the sunflower seeds I'd scattered. What do you think - could she have some Araucana in her?

I don't know, but she's a cool chicken...

Thanks for looking!

I have one that looks a lot like her, I call her Leppy Q short for leopard queen since when she was a chick she had what looked like leopard spots on her chest and she has always thought she was queen of the world. My girl has a larger floppier comb though. She is one of the biggest of my girls and was from Meyer Hatchery.

It get's cold here in the winter, so pea- and rose-combs are an advantage. My RIR and Australorp each got a few tiny spots of frost bite last winter, despite my best efforts. My Wyandotte, not a speck. I'm a big fan of the pea-comb on EE's. My wife disagrees, she thinks with the tiny comb and puffy cheeks that they look a bit like pigeons. :hmm

No problem! I just rooted around my computer a bit and found this picture I'd saved... it's not perfect, but it helped me a lot in the beginning.

ha, thank you. I'm new at this hobby, and my EEs aren't old enough to have combs yet, so I didn't know what they looked like!

I just wanted to share a few of my EE's, they are 4 weeks old today.

One of my chipmink boys...feathering in red and today I realized he's got a lot of blue! He is a scrawny ugly thing though, and the most skittish of the bunch.

The chipmink girl, who looks like she'll be red and white...

Love this girl so far...black with some red...

There are two like this one - one has a little more red than the other.

And there are a few that are brown with some white coming in...
