The EE braggers thread!!!

I think your naked nakes are adorably ugly! (Like my pug is!) Love them. Was thinking about getting one next spring. What color eggs do they have? Peachy, right? would like to add to my color egg collection.

Yea...I have a few roo's in with my pullets as well, I think... dont the males feather in late? because I have like 4 outs 15 that have NO tail feathers and the others are almost 2-3" long now....but I ordered two additional males and one has a tail and the other doesn't??? so that should mean that some males will feather in normal and some will feather in late....but do some girls feather in late as well??? I'm hooping for a kind roo, so the more options the better I think...I really hope my EE roo will be nice, of course I only have one EE roo.... as he is the one I wanted the most...and I almost wish I had ordered 6-7 of them just to get better odds of getting a nice one!

Hi Annabell,
I hatched 5 EE back on March 30th....so they are about 2 1/2 months old now. As I watched them grow I too was expecting the "boys" to get their feathering slower, but it was actually the opposite for this group. The 3 cockerels feathered out quicker and fuller in addition to getting their combs sooner. (Mine developed 3 rows of bumps that turned pinkish/red early on.) They were very sweet, handsome little guys and I was thankful to find someone to buy all 3 before they started crowing! My 2 little pullets are more shy, smaller and still growing in their cheek muffs and some of their neck feathers. It probably just depends on what all is in the genetic mix. Another thing I watch for to determine gender is personality. It is especially fun & easy to see differences in behavior and appearance when you have a mixed group. Good luck with your flock...and hopefully you'll get a nice gentlemanfro your rooster(s).

Here is Mr. Popper at 2 months old

And, here is Angel (one of the girls) at 2 months old for comparison.

My girl came from Cackle hatchery. That's too bad about your hawk attack! EE's are my favorite. I love all the colors :) An owl got into my coop a couple months ago and killed all my polish but one, and the one that survived was the prettiest too! What a coincidence.
I haven`t used cackle, did you like them? This year its hawks last year foxes ugh! i love the EE`s they come in the coolest colors and patterns, cant pinpoint a fav breed yet though. What a greedy owl, thank goodness it left you the pretty one...just culling for you

how cool, not about the attack, that is horrible...but about your fav surviving...that NEVER happens to me... normally it is the nicest that gets pick out first!!! I just had a 3 week old EE escape form their set up...I dont know how and it is just gone...and of course it was my fav....

Well I am assuming if these chicks have pea combs they are going to lay green eggs....................The actual Naked Necks are laying med/red/brown to peachy large eggs. I just think those chicks are precious. I don't know if I am going to keep them yet, we have to see if there are any girls.

I Love my little eight week old Roo, but my 16 week old speckled sussex doesn't. I am going to find a new home for my little guy and possibly the speckled sussex, too. Of course everyone was supposed to be pullets but you know how that goes. I live in Oregon if anyone is interested please let me know. I wish they would all just love each other, but 3 roos outta 15 supposed pullets is too many

Not necessarily, though they probably will. I have a pea combed hen who hatched from a nice blue egg--her mother was a true Ameraucana out of a Blue/black/splash flock. She lays a brown egg. She also is showing signs that, somewhere back in the lineage, a Sumatra rooster jumped the fence because she has an slightly off body type, is aggressive and has spurs, LOL. You just never know with mixed genetics what a hen will pop out for her first egg, not for sure.
