The EE braggers thread!!!

I am glad you like her, she is a very unique little lady. Thank you for clearing up my confusion about the "breed" I am glad that I can sell my little mutt chickens as Easter Eggers.

As was also said, the pea comb gene is located very near the gene which is responsible for the blue color of eggs. If I were selling birdies like you I would try to inform the person of all breeds which make up your birds and when you are selling birds after several generations you will be able to say what color eggs they produce. I imagine one of the biggest interests in EEs is having blue or green eggs to add to their varity of colors. I know lots of folks are aiming to have lotsa different colors.

I love looking at everyone's EEs. So much variety.

Here's my 4 1/2 month EE, Monkey. (She was a brown chipmunk chick!

) She's the lowest in the pecking order, but is the family favorite because she's so purty. Two months ago, she was kind of plain looking, but she came out quite nice! Waiting for eggs.

Two more weeks or so and you will have eggs!

Egger is a good looking EE. Congratz. I'm playing nursemaid to my lil 2 week old olive egger pullet. She had a run in with the fence and lost. ;-( My corgi ran her into it. The skin is gone! She is looking better today. She is eating a lot and drinking the antibiotic water. I am spraying her with Vetericyn once a day. Just to keep infection out till it heals over. She is also loud. I have her in the computer room and she chirps loud all night long. Alone, hurt and afraid makes for a lot of noise.

Oh my goodness! I don't know what Vetericyn is, but I'd put some ointment (Bacitracin or Neosporin) to help keep the tissue moist. You would have to have direct contact with the area to apply it, though. If you have bag balm, you can warm up a glob in your hands and once you've got a good, thick coating on your fingers, lightly rub some onto her neck. I have a Jersey cow and over the winter she slipped and managed to step on one of her own teats (Ouch!). That bag balm worked wonders for helping her heal up.

Wow, what beautiful EEs everyone has!
I love seeing how many different colors they come in

I have 3 of them and they are the sweetest things!

Paprika's my oldest, she was one of the two originals that got me started ... unfortunately I had to find a new home for her hatch-mate that had turned into a roo :(
She started out as a dark brown chick, and she's certainly changed since then!

White EE I got 4 days ago and haven't found the right name for!
Really nice though, she's settled right in with Paprika and my two Barred Rocks:

Annd the most recent, just picked her up yesterday so she's still a little skittish and hasn't found her place in the flock yet.
I think she's going to be a sweetheart when she settles in:

Suggestions for names on the last two are more than welcome ;)

Beautiful! What color would you call him? Silver Blue?
I dunno! Still trying to figure out who the mom & dad are to the 2 hens pictured above. I have another batch that are allot younger, a few whites, a mixed and one that looks like a Pheasant pattern which I totally dig. I usually am 100% freerange here but will be pulling my BCM roo aside to put with the EE hens once I figure out which ones are laying blue...we all love the dark olive colored eggs!

I will add that IMO the EE Roo's are the horniest sex crazed birds i've ever raised! I had to cull several due to their non stop hell raising and being all out brutal to the ladies.
