The EE braggers thread!!!

About yogurt and probiotics. I was thinking when I lost my last hen to swollen head syndrome...what can one to do boost their deficient immune systems. Antibiotics dont help them when it is a viral issue. I think that probiotics might be the booster needed!
Thanks Ron, I appreciate that comment.
Your Welcome!

When the just hatched chicks get pasty bottom, I give them Chick Grit and let the eat plain yogurt from a spoon. I do not give them much yogurt since they don't digest it. they perk up quickly.

For the big girls I give them a pack of save a chick pro biotics once a week. I also give them Black Oil Sunflower Seeds every morning.

Mine do get black oil sunflower seeds as well as the shelled variety. They do love them and they always go first from the feed I give them.

Ill have to look for the probiotics. It sure cant hurt them and I like the testimonial that they perk up when given probiotics in any form!

Just a comment..... too much dairy is not good for chickens. Plain yogurt is best. The other types have too much sugar. If they are sick they don't need the sugar. Might even cause other problems. JMHO

Does anyone know what the chances are of slate legged EEs to lay blue eggs? I know the pea comb is related to the blue egg gene but between willow and slate legs does that play a part in it. Can anyone with EE already laying let us know their experiences?

I have 3 all pea combs

1 light willow legs yellow feet bottoms she lays a green egg
1 really dark willow legs yellow feet bottoms egg soon to be determined
1 blue/slate legs white feet bottoms egg soon to be determined

Does comb, leg color, feet color or feather color play a part in it or is everything just a maybe since they are mixes?

In my post about this I said plain yougurt, does nothing nutritionally, and that I give the chicks and chickens a little bit.

They do not digest it and too much is bad for them. Also, anything that is a treat like this, even when good for them can hurt them.

Scratch is another example.

Ok, someone post an awesome EE picture!
