The EE braggers thread!!!

First of all thank you every one for all your input on my girls. That is some really interesting stuff (to me, anyway

This post makes me think that with a little bit of genetic knowledge many different "names" could be used to lable our birdies.

How can we tell leakage from splashing ? Personally I like to learn but do not get to worked up over the small stuff. And I am not pointing my finger at anyone, but I also have a bad taste in my mouth after particiaption on the Ameraucana and Marans threads.

If I have beautifully colored and healthy birdies then I am happy with the little buggers.
I don't feel like any one was getting to worked up. And I completely agree with the comment on the Ameraucana thread. I did not mean to rub anyone the wrong way I just like to know the names of things and was interested in being able to reproduce some blue chicks in the future, just cause I think they are pretty. It does not mean that I am unhappy with what I have, I would not have proudly posted pictures of them if I was.

There are splash wheaten too. If your roo is a blue/black/ splash type of blue you could get some.
I was looking close at mine and she has some splashing in the blue, maybe that is what she is.

A Splash Wheaten? That sounds crazy, but it makes perfect sense. Do you have a picture of yours?

Maybe I feel that some of the folks on some threads take stuff way too seriously

flower ~ yes you can certainly use my photo for any personal purpose... for some reason, byc won't let me quote tonight... so i do hope you spot this...
you should be able to "right click" the picture, and "save as" on your computer... but if that doesn't work, please PM me with your email address and i will be happy to send you a copy. thanks for the compliment! i posted another pic on a different thread of an autumn sky, and someone else also took it and is making a painting, so it pleases me greatly to inspire!

How long after there faces turn red. Mine have been red for about a month. Someone else had mentioned to look for half inch combs on the pullets. I have a few approaching half inch and red faces for a long time, i hope mine start laying soon.

I have 3 EEs all now laying. 2 went red and combs grew just a few short weeks before laying and one never went red and her comb has stayed small and pink but she has been laying for 2 weeks. So for some chickens large comb and reddness may not be a factor in time til lay but the majority it is what to look for.
