The EE braggers thread!!!

Got this link the other day from someone else and thought I'd pass it along to the rest of the EE gang - haven't had time to look at it completely but figured why should I make you all wait on me?

The Easter Egger Club of America
I thoroughly enjoyed this! My favorite part was 'If you do have an Ameraucana, don't despair! With a little crossbreeding, you too can become an Easter Egger breeder in good standing'. I laughed out loud. I have actually been searching for months for a true Ameraucana, and finally found a laying pullet I'm picking up tomorrow but I will always love my colorful and friendly EE girls! You can't beat 'em! I mostly want the am to keep the blue egg gene in my EE breeding program for next Spring

. Plus I'm partial to the blue wheaten color.

Girl or boy? This has me confused. Girl coloring I thought until the hackles started getting dark and thick yellow legs. The comb is darker pink than the sister I have but still small. 7 weeks.

WOW... She looks a lot like a Blue Wheaten Am.... not quite but really close!

I was joking the other day and told a friend that my EE had mint green earlobes (which she does) and that she would lay that color egg. My friend believed me....hahahha.,...Well, guess what...she laid her first egg today after 31 weeks of waiting and it is the same green as her earlobes! Yea, I know it has nothing to do with the egg color....but tell my friend that!!! hahaha! Yea for first eggs!

Milly's first egg....the one in the middle!

Oh YAY!!!!! So exciting. I love thecolor.

My EE's started laying at about 18 weeks. They came from McMurray hatchery. I am very impressed with that part. However, they are not as diversely colored and pretty as so many others. They are also not that tame/friendly. I guess they breed for egg production.

I love the picture of the olive egg shades. So cool! I've never seen those shades before. I have some light and dark greens, but none of my greens are that dark. Beautiful.

All are EE, not Ameraucanas. 6-8 months is the norm ... maybe longer since the days are getting shorter. The red comb will be your clue. When the combs get red, the eggs are soon to follow.
6-8 Months WHAT I was told 4-6, but by October for sure. hmm I guess i am waiting then
