The EE braggers thread!!!

They seem HUGE for pullet eggs but jeez louise- just looking through this thread it looks like EE's tend to lay a large first egg? Has anyone else found this to be the case? My other girls laid 2/3 size eggs to start.

Yep! Andromeda gave us a double yolk XL her first time. She has since backed down to a more reasonable (*) Large.

Echo is an Australorp. she started with a Medium-Large and is now at a Large-Medium a week later.

All the other breeds started small. The Anconas both started with a Medium (I would guess). Each laid one XL after about a week and have generally been laying regular Large since.

The Cubalayas, Faverolle (1, I think) and Chantecler (1, I think) started small and still are. The Cubalayas won't ever lay anything bigger than a Medium, they are small birds.

(*) More reasonable if only because I have a TON of Large egg cartons, and no XL egg cartons

I have a few that follow me EVERYWHERE & 1 girl that insists on trying to go on car rides with like anyone...
She jumped into my car multi times & my trunk a week. She jumped into my son's speech therapist's suv. Most recent attempt, she tried to get into my mail man's little truck!!!!! they all came(chickens, ducks, guineas) to the front yard to see him bring a package to the door.

Well I just picked up some EEs of varying ages and breeding a couple weeks ago. Took a few pics today, but not of everyone; will have to get some more another day.

first a multicolored roo hatched 8/28

A pretty black and white partridge patterned girl

These next are some of my favorite colors, EE mammas with a Lavender Orp daddy. I love how on the one the feathers are that soft grey with a gold partridge pattern edging. Like gold lace edges.

Well one of the FEW EE pullets I kept that hatched from a pretty blue egg and has a pea comb.... lays a great PURE BROWN egg

So much for having an EE pen this year. I only have 2 EE pullets I think and the Roo came from that same batch of EE so he may also carry brown egg genes. .... I will try again. Or really I am OK without EE.... I think my Olive Egger pen with Olive Eggers over Olive Eggers is a bust too.... I only have a couple of girls that lay Olive Eggs....

I need to see what I have growing out.....

I need to hatch me some SBEL..... LOL

Or you could adopt some of my little F1 chickies out of a pure blue AM [breed] cockerel! Blue gene for sure.
