The EE braggers thread!!!

Here are my two babies who are now a few days shy of 5wks old. my darker one really took off on the growing! it is noticeably bigger than the light one - I looked at their combs, both seem to look like singles pea comb - but the light colored one is feathering slower - dark one has a larger body -gender guesses anyone? I am still leaning on the lighter one being a boy since it is always upright but hey I'm still green in this area...
first 2 pics of them are from 11/28 the rest are from DEC13th

In the photo above I was trying to get them to stay still while making a heart shape --- kind of worked silly fidgety birdies

Given my VAST experience of 6 months and 12 chicks, only 2 of which are EEs

I wouldn't get real worried based on how fast each grows and if one's feathers change quicker than the other. I got plenty of extra white hairs doing that and mine all turned out to be girls.

I don't see anything in the combs that says "boy" and the legs don't look particularly thick but you are right, that light one sure does have a very upright stance. Maybe she just wants to be noticed. I think you'll have to watch for the tell tale sign of red splotches on the wing "shoulders". What is with the yellow legs though?

And I am amazed that you got them to stand still enough to take ANYpictures, let alone both of them that close together.

IMO, EEs are the best......you don't have to worry about all those standards like you do with other breeds! You just get to enjoy the heck out of them! And it's just a fun surprise to see what you get!

This is the thread where multi colored eggs, leggs and feathers are not only tolerated they are CELEBRATED!!!

These beautiful hearty birds are not Amerikana-wanna-be's, but a colorful personality packed part of many back yard flocks, exhibiting great hybrid vigor - a real American backyard breed! Please post your pics proudly!

This is my oldest hen Roy; she laid a jumbo mint green egg a day through her 6th year, this year at 7 she cut back to about 5 a week. I call her color Buff Columbian . . .

This is Little baby, my customers call her "pheasant colored" and all want to buy chicks like her lol! She lays a light brown egg every day . . . in the most creative places!
love the pics

These are Red Riding Hood and Goldilocks, they each lay an egg a day, one light green one light brown - they came from Extreme Game birds in Texas

And last but not least, this was Fancy Pants. She was our house favorite personality. She loved my husband and broke into his shop everyday in order to lay her egg on his desk (which included kicking all of his papers onto the floor) . . . unfortunately she alway had egg issues; soft shells, rock hard shells, double yolks (huge) etc. I had to put her down last month when she became eggbound and it broke inside her . . .

Since I finally got decent updated picture of my girls, I thought I would share. :)

Arya

Sansa

These two are 28 weeks old and I have not see any eggs yet. Arya was out back bawk-ing up a storm a few weeks ago, but has since stopped and there was nothing to show for all the noise. I am praying for a Christmas miracle egg.
sooooooo cute lol

Thank you for the response. I was hoping Luna(the ameraucana) would lay soon. When I found the first egg it was layed very early in the morning, and Cutie(the EE) layed her egg in the nest really late-even for her it was late after 6 pm. Then after I didn't get another egg I just thought maybe, it was a freak thing or something. But then when I got another one today I was wondering if chickens really did lay two eggs. I guess I should have thought about it as they were layed between 11am and 5pm and that is just impossible

silly mama!! Well after I posted here I went out and checked the eggs side by side again and the "new" one is actually a little smaller today than the other day. So thank you very much for the help, at least now I can tell my daughter both her chickies are laying eggs she'll be thrilled.

Kassaundra they do look like hackle feather but she's indeed a hen...she's 6 1/2 months but she's squats like crazy and is getting ready to lay any day or has for the first time today. One of my ladies laid her first egg today it's either gyspy, ginger, or Iris....not quite sure who.....but it's a pretty little thing!
