awesome info from everyone, thanks. if i could ask a few more questions, first, are the ee's eggs small ,medium or large? the woman at the feed store said their eggs are very large, depends, but mine are mostly on the large side.but i would rather here from some of you , as i don't always think people who sell from a feed store are as informed as all of you who actually own them. i am getting them for eggs, not meat, so i would like to get large egg layers. also, would i be better off getting all ee's? some ee lay better then others, if you are wanting as many eggs as possible an egg laying specialist is probably what you want, but if you are wanting nice chickens that are yard candy and variety in color/ pattern and egg color then ee are a good choice, or a mix of ee and other egg laying powerhouse chickens. i am only getting 8 chicks, did everyone start out with more or less? I started out w/ 25 (minimum order from the hatchery I got them from) i haven't ordered them yet, and am not really sure how many to get. i want them for my family of four, and maybe have some for my two young daughters to sell to the neighborhood. also, how many people get their chicks from the feed store and end up with roo's? got mine sexed as pullets from a hatchery and got one boy the woman told me she could give me a 90% chance of getting the sexes right. maybe if they order thier chicks as sexed from whatever hatchery they use and they didn't get put in the wrong box by mistake. thanks again everyone, julie
