The EE braggers thread!!!

They are not here.... EE are a mutt, Ameraucanas and Araucanas are Pure Breeds. I would say that roo carries blue egg genes. He has a pea comb.... and they usually travel genetically together.

Alright thanks guys this forum is so helpful, many nice people on here and I will go pick up the rooster sometime soon.
thanks again!!

Or put another way, Araucana and Ameraucana will breed true and there are standard colors. The EEs look like Ameraucanas but can be any color and won't breed true to those colors. So you COULD have a bird that looks like a purebred Ameraucana, but turns out to be an EE when the eggs hatch and the chicks don't make spec

I need help! Im worried my "pullet" is looking a little suspicious. She is Leghron/Ameraucana cross. most of the other roos were very obvious at 2-3 weeks but now the only chick I kept is pinking up in the comb, legs looking thick, stubby tail and not a lot of head feathers. She is exactly 5 weeks. What do you think?

I would hold out a bit. Leghorns have large combs . it does have thick legs though.
DMRippy has leghorn Ameraucana crosses so she may know better.

Pics of my chicks hatched from fertilized eggs I bought on ebay. The funny thing is the seller had in her description in really big letters Purebred Americana. They will have green, blue, teal, olive eggs. (should have been my first red flag)Then above that in item description in small letters are Brand: Easter Eggers, which I only saw when I went back and looked at the listing after the eggs hatched. From her pictures of grown chickens some of them looked wheaten to me. What really confused me was the appearance of three chicks in lavender color with feathered legs. Since my friend does the hatching in her 400 egg incubator I thought maybe a mix up, tho she has assured me they came from my eggs. But it's all good. The chicks are so cute and so many different markings, I am happy with them.

Thanks, I actually got the eggs from DMRippy and she just recommended same as you, wait and see. All her hatchmates were so obvious as roos I gave them away at 2-3 weeks.

If the ad actually said "Americana" she doesn't know what she is talking about. There is no "Americana" breed.
And according to the Ameraucana Breeders Club web page, they lay blue eggs. So she was wrong there as well.
Enjoy your Easter Eggers.

I bet you get a terrific mix of colors in both the birds and eggs.

Since we are supposed to brag on our EEs here, I am happy to report that both laid yesterday and both laid today. Andromeda's eggs are bluish and Persephone's greenish.
