The EE braggers thread!!!

Any Idea what the light yellow chipmunk chips may turn into and also the orange one? I'm excited to see them grow up. ( I know they all turn out different)

I think it is all a guessing game. Both mine were chipmunks, one a bit lighter than the other.

Bottom left brown chipmunks. The other chipmunks are Partridge Chantecler

The lighter one turned orange. She lays a blue egg.

And the other brown with black lacing and a black head. She lays a medium dark green egg

are these all pullets? if you are not sure you may want to keep them all until you know.

I want to keep them all but Im limited on coop space. I chose the 3 I did because my husband and kids really wanted the chipmunk ones and I fell in love with the orange one. I was nervous to choose the whites because I heard light colored chick mostly turn out to be roos and the rooster that made these was a solid white EE. I didnt choose the black one because I already have lots of black chickens.

Not all light colored chicks turn out to be roos...

All of mine were pullets... But my two light colored chicks were solid... not chipmunk. As I understand it... the light yellow chipmunk colored chicks tends to turn into cockerels... =(

HI there
Hatched some lavender EEs.
Someone told me the EEs dont lay an egg until they are 9 months old. Is that true?
Seemed very long time when my Buff Orps and Light Brahmas laid at 19-22 weeks old

It depends on he individual chicken and the genetics of the mother and father combined. The ones Ihad started at about 26 to 28 weeks.

Most of my EE where my first layers right after the BR. There are lots of things that will effect when they lay. Time of year, light, I think pecking order even. I have had them lay 24-26 weeks all the way up to 10 months. You never know. BUT for the most part they laid early for me.

Trying to convince my dad to let me get more EE's in the spring... I LOVE BEARDED CHICKENS!!! I only have 2 1/2 :( ( one is muffed but not bearded). The EE I got this spring had no beard... But she was white and I heard that's rare? I don't know. But the chipmunk EE I got her with die at like 3 weeks.
So I had a light colored EE and she turned out to be a girl...
