The EE braggers thread!!!

Even now I'm having a panic attack
Just remember, take slow deep breaths, and when you can, go for a walk.
Go and care for your chickens, focus on feeding, water and some play time with them.
And the hardest part, while arranging some type of security for the dog, try to go ahead and forgive it. Sounds like his primitive impulse to chase is strong. But, don't let hate and anger become your friends either. Hang in there, you will get through this, for yourself and your chickens!

I am very upset with her, but i don't hate her. She is An amazing family dog. I have these attacks at night when it's pitch dark out.

Are you able to sleep with a light on? You know even if you check right before you go to sleep, then if you need it, take a quick trip out during the night to check in on them. (Your safety first, of course) And then get up extra early in the morn to check again. You get the exercise to help drive out that adrenaline that's keeping you in that flight or fight mode.

I am so sorry for your loss and all your heartache! I am very new to BYC and to chickens. But I do have a pitbull mix dog who is also a hunter. That said we are using heavy gauge welded wire for the runs for our chickens and on the outside of that we will be running electric fence wire to keep all critters and dogs out of my chicken runs and pens. All animals respect the electric fence!

Went out a few nights ago to put the ladies to bed and found that the poor hen that is at the bottom of the order has been booted to the lower perch by the "newbies" She just doesn't have an assertive bone in her body So since they go to bed first I suppose she just didn't make it a point to make room. I did take all the boys that will not be sticking around out so there would be room on the top. But, last night she was still on the second rung with the baby brahma roo & an EE girl. I guess it isn't bad at the bottom as long as you have friends
