The EE braggers thread!!!

So I was right my cute little EE Snow lays tiny light brown eggs. She started laying at almost 23weeks old as did her sister Fetch(same cross) They both lay tiny light brown eggs.

Here is Snow yesterday

And here is her egg. The Larger green egg is hers moms egg, what she hatched from. The brown egg is Snows

This is Fetch (Snows sister) she looks like a black Japanese Bantam, she also came from the green egg above. She lays the same color as Snow.

We've enjoyed looking at the thread's photos. Easter Eggers are so pretty and alert and the variety in their eggs is fun to see, too. It's been sad to read of a massacre.

I also had a dog attack either this spring or the spring before. I lost all but 4 chickens out of around 45. It isn't easy. Sorry about your loss Kassaundra.

Blarneyeggs- my attack was someone else dogs that got loose not my own dogs.

I think dogs are one of the worst, b/c of the wantoness of the attack, they aren't hungry (usually) and don't stop w/ what they need, just such a waste all around.

If the people that owned the dogs that attacked my chickens would of contained there dogs properly the whole thing would of never happened. It happened many times. Only 3 times did they kill anything, but Icould sit out there all day. Thought we had it taken care of when we went to their house to make them aware of it, but no they didnt keep them on their property. Finally had to have the sheriff go talk to them. then they realized that we could shot there dogs and charge them for all the money I had put into the chickens that had been killed. I have told the story on here before. I would much rather have a hawk take a chicken than a dog attack. At least it is only one chicken and I dont see the remains all over my property. Hopefully you can get your flock built up again soon.

Sorry to hear this happened to you too, I didn't see your post. I was just going off in a tangent about LGDs and using them for poultry in response to Mary's post.

Kassandra, I agree, the waste is awful. Another aspect of this is that it ruins your relationship with your neighbors. It's hard to be friends with someone responsible for your loss. It would be hard for me, anyway.
