Beautifully colored eggs. (and rooster).
I can barely wait. My two EE's are a little over 3 months old. Any idea when they should start laying? I figure they may wait til spring but sooner would be nice.

This was last year's ee hatch: Starting with the dark brown one with no stripes: girl, tortie under her was a beautiful boy, the others unfortunately i don't remember who was who! but of the lot only the tortie and the other light one (I think the one across the dish) was a boy. The brown is an orange and black pattern girl, tortie was white and blue boy, the other boy had to be put down at 3 weeks, and the other girls were black and white, blue and a little burnt orange, and one that is mostly black with faint orange markings. So you see all the "rules" go out the window with the ee's!!

Our EE's were the last to lay their first eggs at 6 1/2 months. We have a timer on the coop light set to come on at 5 a.m. so that they all get the needed hours of light to keep laying. Sadie laid a huge double yolker one day.
 
1 of my EE's laid a green egg yesterday and 1 of my RIR's a brown. 2 new eggs in the same day was weird and they were so tiny. All my other pullets are still laying almost everday with no added light. But it's turning so cold, I don't know if i should continue to let them free range or not. The EE's hate being cooped

up. Even with their wing clipped, they fly out sometimes and i'm afraid if I don't see them, they won't get back in right away if their cold. I have 1 more EE i'm waiting to lay an egg yet, they are late layers, but the best size and colored eggs i think.
 
My youngest EEs are 19 weeks old now. So hoping for eggs in the not to distant future.

This is Velcro. One of the few birds with a name. She's very clingy and loves to ride around on me.



And her brother and one of her sisters.
