HELP, Easter Egger specialists!!!!

This newbie here (had chickens for less than a week) has two pullets. Today I posted some pics on the Ameraucana thread (trying to find out if they were AMs or EEs), and... Surprise! Some people commented that my girls might be cockerels.

So I came here seeking enlightenment! What do you guys think?

Can you all give me an opinion on this rooster? He is an Am, but because of color is considered EE (I think)..... The pictures are from last summer/fall.

He has a lot of gold leakage. Yes he is an ameraucana, but a cull. ANd should not be used to try and get quality stock, becuase he will most likley pass on the leakage to his male offspring. I could be wrong, but I dont think it is usually passed to the females

Thanks! I am just planning on putting him over my Marans and EE's.... He will actually be my only Ameraucana. Hoping to get some olive eggers.

on the egg shell color, my blue eggs and green eggs are all blue on the inside. my pinks and browns are white on the inside, I haven't done this since last year, and now have Marans eggs, I will have to peek at those the next time I crack one!

I cracked open a few eggs for supper last night. 2 were fertilized. good to know my rooster is "working"

I'll have to check out my other green layer eggs to see if it's the one pullet laying the white inside the green.

My EE hen and the two oldest pullets from my 2013 hatch all laid on the same day this week! I'm glad to know they're starting to work up their production for the season. They're in with my two Weaten marans cockerels so I won't be hatching their eggs from that mating. It does give me some time to figure out which of my EE males to put over them first...I'm thinking it will be the gold duckwing one I have.

Congrats, I am loving the longer days. My girls really dropped off this winter so its nice not to have to buy eggs

Greta, my EE laid her first egg today and it was a light greenish blue! I was worried about her since her comb is not exactly a pea comb.

Here is her egg beside my older EE's egg. The colors are not exactly right in the picture. The larger egg is more of a lime green color in person, it looks more olive in this picture.

I have one more EE that I am waiting for and I am hoping she will also lay a green or blue egg. This picture is a couple of weeks old, she's gotten a lot of growth in her comb and it is a pea comb and she has some cheek puffs too. She is squatting for me like crazy, so any day now.


I have gotten all of my chicks from Meyer Hatchery and so far am 3 for 4 with green/blue eggs from them. I am hoping 4 for 4 once this one starts.

I am curious after all this talk about inside egg color and I really want to see what color these eggs are inside now. So when I crack them I'll take pictures too.

Congrats LynnEBC!! I have five 22 week olds that I am anxiously waiting to see what they lay. I just had a couple leghorns start laying, excited to see some color!

This is Snowball, my frizzle Easter egger. She hasn't laid an egg yet but it should happen any day now.
