Alright, the hatch is now officially over and we have five adorable little EEs from your eggs KatyTheChickenLady. Two from Goldylocks, one from Roy, one from Little Baby and one from Red Riding Hood. Not bad for a batch of eggs that took a spill off the garden gate (thank you USPS
). I attribute the good hatch to your awesome package job, superior genetic strength, and my husband's super cool homemade incubator that cared for these eggs till lock-down.
Here's the darling of the hatch, Goldylock's chick, who thinks he/she is really all that.......
And Goldylock's second chick:
Little Baby's chick
Roy's sassy little chick:
And finally, Red Riding Hood's chick. I watched that beautiful green egg rocking around in the incubator for two full days, then FINALLY a pip, then watched for nearly another full day while this sweet little chick tried to figure out how to zip. It was very hard not to reach in the bator and help. This chick is significantly smaller than all the others and we are keeping a close eye on it, but I have a good feeling it will be just fine.
THEY ARE BEAUTIFUL!!!!!
Great hatching my dear!
You have the second of Roy's babies alive!!!! and it looks just like mine! It will be cool to compare notes as they grow.
RRH has a grey beard just like that baby.
I never got better than 30% Hatch rate on shipped eggs - although I have heard of others doing better, I think 50% is great!
Were all of yours fertile?
Here are our 4 week old EE's! We are trying to figure out what they are going to look like when they are older and we still aren't sure on thier sex yet!
