The EE braggers thread!!!

I've been noticing a great increase in blue coloring in hatchery EEs lately. . . Wonder if it's a new thing they've thrown into their great big pile of brood chickens.

It sure is making some neat colors!

Rooster Cugburn - That pullet in the foreground has some wildtype BBR behind her. . . No blue, though.

gordonburrito .... Beautiful bird! I like the idea of the petting sessions, too! I have one that looks alot like your Jasmine. I don't know if you can see her very well in this picture (6 months ago) ....

I have one like her, smooth face too. her name is Pook. Although she's not the alpha of the little group, she is very bold and will challenge the big alpha hen (18 months old) when it comes to food. FUnnY! But mine has wheaton legs.

What's the dfference between muffs and tufts? I have a silver/white/blk. EE SqueaK, who's had feathers sticking straight out from her under her eyes since she was pretty young. Are those tufts? Obviously she's in the middle, and I have one smoothed face EE- Pook- to the right. That's Pumpkin to the left- not geat photos.

I have an orange headed one- Pumpkin- whoe other feathers are a beautiful buff gray. She has feathers more on her cheeks, and they don't stick out as much. Muffs?

And I have one, with typical orangey-brown and black who looked like this until she was bout, maybe 14 weeks old? Then I came out one day and it looked like her face exploded! It's about twiceas full as this- muff and beard?

They HATE having their pictures taken. I might have to hold them to get better face shots.

Tufts? Did someone say tufts? By golly, we can show you tufts!!! Take a look at just about any page over on the Araucana thread ( https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=288425&p=54) and you'll see that tufts are usually hard to miss (usually) and quite different from muffs.
Your hen is gorgeous! From the photos, I'm pretty sure that she has super fluffy muff and beard.

I have 5 ee's that were hatched April 5. I think that puts them at about 24 weeks. Junie turned out to be a roo.

Lulu layed a light brown egg at about 19 weeks. And has layed steadily since then (I think, all the rest of them lay brown eggs too so I am not completely sure) Marge busted out with a HUGE light green egg about 3 weeks ago.

And Ruffles and Bubbles are just hanging out eating bugs. When do EE typically lay? I think they are usually later than other breeds...but how late? It's getting cold here..........hoping for eggs before winter!

And I think I asked once before but just generally what percentage of EE lay a brown egg? Just wondering!

Thanks, I have picture overload. I wish I could post one but you'll have to use your imagination. Ruffles is manly but no sickle or hackle feathers. Walks like a man and talks like a woman, should have named her Lola. Black and white speckles. Bubbles is the prettiest hen, Cream and cinnamon colored. Smaller with a gray beard and muffs.

Leezy- In that first picture- the EE to the right with the dark head...Is that one a roo? I see some curved feathers on the tail, too? I had one (as of last week) that looked very similar had HUGE feet and dark feathers coming in...with a red and bigger comb than my other. No muffs/ tufts on "him". I rehomed him thinking he was a roo--- I'm a first time Chicken-er

.

BTW- I LOVE EE...so sweet with my kids and FUN to watch.

I'm a EE fan too. I love their look and the variety of colors. I recently acquired a ee bantam that is a beautiful chocolate brown with gold feathering on her neck...she lays a pretty little bluish-greenish egg. Everybody in my area wants the EE...they are hard to get!

here are some of my babies taken today, 7-8 week old range, give or take.......

I have two like this one, they are a matched set.
