Wow - I love the soft blue/gray and white EEs I've seen here! Just gorgeous.

Here's my two: Piccata and Ciaccatore. (My husband named them.) They came from a friend, and were hatched together. Piccata has a smooth face, while her pal CC has these fluffy feathers below her eyes... It makes them very easy to tell apart, unlike the two Barred Rocks we have! Is this a normal EE thing?

I am wondering how the big hatcheries like McMurry actually make the next generation of Easter Eggers all the time. Would they have an Easter Egger rooster in with the easter egger girls to make those eggs to hatch out or is it done some other way?

I have been looking and reading at the true Ameraucana thread also as well as here on the easter egger thread. While I do like the looks of the true Ameraucanas to me nothing beats the looks of the easter eggers. I know they can look like most anything but looking thru the pictures those easter egger hens are just so pretty.

Here are my two. The first is Blondie, my absolute favorite, sweetest girl out of my whole flock. She got her name from when she was a chick. She had the normal dark chipmunk markings, but she had the cutest, blond puffy cheeks. She would always cock her head to one side when she came over to check you out. She still does. She is pretty average in the markings department, but her personality totally makes up for it.The second is Daffodil. My daughter chose the name, because she was bright yellow as a chick. She is a little more flighty and shy than Blondie, but still a good girl. They are both 6 months old and both lay light blue eggs.

I got a hold of some breeder stock of EE's back in early March, and on March 26th I hatched out 9 cute little fluffy butts. One died, and that left me with 6 pullets and 2 roos. I've sold off everything and kept only my two favorite girls, and my baby boy, George. I knew when they were chicks that I was going to like George, but as he grew, WOW! His colors make him one of the most beautiful birds that I have ever seen. And he's a good boy too. Other than being a little too amorous this past month (boy, when those hormones kick in they REALLY kick in!!!), he behaves himself well. He knows his name too. Every time I catch him grabbing a hold of an unwilling girl, or trying to mount one of my cockerels (yes, George will mount anything that moves, though he has calmed down some in the last few weeks) I say his name very sharply, and he stops dead in his tracks and releases his victim. He then looks sheepishly at me and sort of creeps away. It's funny to watch him do that, but it's not funny that he nearly scalped two of my BCM cockerels and my Black Bantam Cochin pullet! He's still my baby though. He looks like a hawk and is a mixture of greys, blues, and browns. I've never seen anything quite like him. My two girls, Gina and Butter, Gina is a standard brown color but has pretty blue muffs, and Butter is solid white. Gina is so sweet and talks to me all the time. Butter is more skittish, but oh so beautiful to look at.

I love my EE's. Still waiting for the girls to start laying and I'm looking forward to their first eggs. Can't wait to see what colors they give me!

Here are a couple of my Easter Eggers bred from Ameraucanas that I hatched from eggs. Pictures are old - I'll try to get some newer ones soon -- they're even prettier since they've grown up.

This pretty blue one came from a Blue Wheaten Ameraucana rooster and a Blue Ameraucana hen - she's almost all blue, but has a little bit of brown on her chest.

This EE pullet - came from the same BW Ameraucana rooster and a Splash Ameraucana hen. She is clean-faced (no muffs/beard). Hopefully, she'll still lay blue eggs.

This little guy was also a mix of a BW and a Blue Ameraucana. He was so pretty - I wish I could have kept him.

GEORGEOUS!!! I'm wondering, is the only way to get all those different colors, the gray mixes, whites etc, is to go with a breeder or hatch them out yourselves? Are most of the ones from the hatchery the typical markings of gold and black, like my Blondie??
