Why no name? I have some name ideas ... Just playing off the whole stripey BR thing ... Zee - as in zebra(this is my best one), or Connie, Convict, Sybil, Dawn (follows Midnight) ... uh, yeah, that's it for now but I'm sure others could help.

well, so far of my August pullets. 11 EE , 1 wyandotte. I have 2 blue egg layers, and 1 brown (the wyandottes).

10 pullets to go............. so far so good.

Hi everybody. I have five EE hens and one roo. I first bought five EE pullet chicks because I thought the colored eggs would be a selling point for my eggs. But I have found a lot about them to like-they are among my consistent layers. they also survived a dog attack with only one injury-to me that said something for their free range capabilities. The roo was badly injured and survived with just a limp.

My question is this-if I cross my EE roo with my EE hen does the colored egg trait continue in the offspring? All my EE hens are laying mint green eggs. They all have a muff and beard. My EE roo is so far a nice roo. He does have a muff, beard and feathered legs.

Sorry, I am sure this has been discussed but could not read thru the 209 pages......altho I gave it a good try!

The most likely results, assuming your rooster carries at least one copy of the blue egg gene, is some brown egg laying hens and some blue/green egg laying hens. What type of comb does your rooster have?

Black Beard - Standard EE Roo - I got him from a local BYC'er, he was going to become chicken soup on the 14th!

What color is he? What do you think of him?

Well, that's a hopeful sign; the pea comb in ameraucanas/ easter eggers tends to be inherited along with the blue egg gene, so i would say that there is a good chance of his passing it on to a percentage of his children. Your hens obviously have some blue egg genes also, so you should get eggs of varying colors brown through green. Sounds like fun!!!!

EEs don't have certain colors they are mutts.

Oh - Thanks.

Question, The Ameraucanas are solid colors..can EE's be solid colors too or are they purely mixed colors?

What an absurd statement. That would be like saying your barred EE is not "barred" at all because it's a mutt.
