The EE braggers thread!!!

Oh, someone posted on BYC that they came out of the same line. I guess you cannot believe everything you read.

Also you can ask Illia about it too. He can go into greater detail about than I can.

Ok, so why does my EE look just like an Ameraucana if they are not related? Is it because she might have some Ameraucana genetics in her then? I am so confused.

Here she is:

It is possible she does. Where did you get her from? Also like I said ask Illia about. He can go into more detail than I can.

that is one thing I like about EEs is you never no what color the chicks will be. Kinda like a box of chocolates. Of course I dont show chickens and wont. To me a black chicken is a black chicken. If it is blue it is blue, If I cross them they could be any color . They all lay eggs if hens. And the luckyest roo gets to stay if nice.
That why I have some EEs they are fun

My sister in law's father has chickens, he raises them. He gave her and a dark cornish to us. He had several that looked just like her. I asked my sister in laws sister what they were and she said she did not remember the name of them.

She lays olive eggs though.

See that's what I'm talking about she is a blue EE.
Just like an Blue Ameraucana Sha has a recognized color.

For your information, I am a she, not a he.

Your Easter Egger honestly looks like an Ameraucana to me. But if there's yellow/green legs, then it sounds like she's just got Ameraucana behind there.

Easter Eggers from hatcheries do not come in solid blue, as they do not have Ameraucana crossed into them, most in fact just originate from the original Quechua and other colored laying mutts we brought from South America. Thus, most are Duckwing based with blue genes, but not an extended black w/blue as you see there.

Your bird looks like an Ameraucana crossed with something else, quite likely not even EE. An EE x blue Ameraucana would show gold leakage or pencilling.

I thought you were a she.

Her legs are grey there is no yellow or green on them. Grayish black. She lays olive egg though so she has to be an ee right? I was told she was an ee on byc.

Ok a couple days late, but here are the pics of my EE's. They are about 13 weeks old. I think I have 2 maybe 3 roos.

Group shots

Good picture of the combs on what is possibly my 2 roos. One in the top Rt corner, the other just behind the white one. One poofy cheeked one not.

I went back and looked at my original post and everyone said she was an ee but you. You said she was an "olive egger, a cross between an ameraucana and a maran". So that would explain why she looks like an ameraucan.

I like her. She gives me 5-6 eggs a week that are a pretty light olive color.

Thank you. I am less confussed. I kept seeing pictures of blue ameraucanas and they looked just Luke Pamela and I did not understand why she was not one lol.

so do I call her an ee or an olive egger lol?

Yes, I remember now!

And I still think she's an Olive Egger. Marans have white soles like Ameraucanas, and can cause the offspring to have slate legs. They also pass on birds that look either like blue coppers or straight blues. Notice her larger comb too? I'm pretty sure she's an Olive Egger, I'd put money on it.

Olive Eggers ARE EE's, but a "special" kind. I myself separate them unless I'm just talking about general populations, like "I have so and so Easter Eggers"
