The EE braggers thread!!!

If she were my bird, I would let her hatch a clutch. I am jealous as I have not yet had the experience of a broody hen and hope to have one some day. I did find my Welsummer sitting on a dozen non-fertile eggs today but she is not serious because she jumped off as soon as she hear that I was there and usually bring some type of speciality.

Flower, She will get her chance but only after she is penned with the Araucana roo of my choice. Right now there are Marans, Araucanas and EE roos all together with my hens. I plan on putting this black hen with a splash double tufted roo and hopeing for some blue chicks! Happy hatching to you!

not to toot my own horn, but, of my August hatch babies, I have 12 pullets. I got 12 eggs two days ago. So, I got 12 out of 12. hahaha. Shamwow !!!

and on top of that, of the 12, 11 are EE's and those 11 are ALL blue/green egg layers. BAM.

P.S. my new incubator has arrived.

This friend and I always get chicks together, so nice to have a cohort! They are all supposed to be pullets so I guess it is like a box of Godiva. The great thing about this was DH actually helped us get the brooder plogged in and ready! (Ladies do you think maybe I have gotten him trained???) If so it takes 33 years for it

Yeah and I also agree with you about the pea comb looking neater and better on EE's. the thing is that I can't think of a good laying breed with a pea comb.

Depending on which hatchery the feed store uses you are more likely to get roos from a straight run purchase. Crash meant to purchase pullets not straight run. The chances are still 1 in 10 for getting a roo from an all pullet purchase but that's a lot better than the straight run purchase. If you did purchase pullets and got 3 roos instead I would say complain to your feed store! I know they say there are no guarantees that pullets will always be pullets but 3 roos? That's excessive!

Thank you Suuny that's what I meant, cuz usually feed stores get pullets as they know that not that many people want roos. But like you said there's always a chance of getting one or a couple of roos in the bunch, but hey what better excuse than that to get even more chicks ha!!!!!
