QUICK QUESTION:

Does each EE bird lay different colored eggs...or just green or just blue or just ....etc? Does that make any sense? So if they bird lays blueish eggs...thats all they're going to lay. You'd have to get another bird to get green eggs, too?

A thing to remember about the eggs..............is that depending on the laying cycle of each bird, there are various degrees of tinting. My welsummer lay dark adobe red colored eggs. Each one lays a different shade and I know which bird lays which egg. But each day the shades of reddish brown differ slightly as does the shape. The blue, green and pinkish color are the same. Even the white eggs differ slightly. One bird of the same breed will lay a pure white egg and another might have a slight beige tint to it. If you are not sensitive to slight shade differences you might not notice, but those of us who can see the changes between one day's eggs and the next batch notice.
This is way over the answer but it is still there.

Just want to show off my new boy.

He's going to make me pretty EE's. Aparently he's a lav x blue wheaten so I can't wait to see what pops up.

I have assorted purebred pullets at the moment and a batch of interesting farmyard mix chicks growing up. He'll get to run with those when they are older.

Please excuse the scruffiness, both roos were in a bachelor pen till I bought them and they are a bit knocked around.

Don't know about sex but they sure are cute, interesting legs and feet never seen 2 tone before, yellow and green they should be interesting to watch feather out. Great pics. Kim

Okay, photo update time. I've (sorry) culled almost all my Easter Egger cockerels now but decided to show all the passed-away boys as well as one I'm definitely keeping.

Here's one who went yesterday. He's half Araucana, half Black Copper Marans (so, he's an Olive Egger) - he made the best roast chicken I've ever had. Plus he was very pretty!

Here's a "normal" Easter Egger. This guy is what an Araucana x Ameraucana REALLY would look like, despite what some hatcheries and the sort say their birds are.

This guy is half Blue Wheaten Ameraucana, half Gold Duckwing Araucana. Very pretty and quite the impressive lacing on his chest, but still not a keeper.

Here's an Easter Egger that hits home with most EE owners.

He looks like a normal hatchery Easter Egger, but was actually half Araucana, half New Hampshire.

And his brother, believe it or not. The only difference between the two is a silver allele, a blue allele, and a rumpless allele!

And finally, this is another brother. His difference besides a silver allele, a blue allele, and a rumpless allele is also the fact that he is tufted, carries great melanizers which make up the "blue laced red" appearance and also the mahogany gene which makes him a deep beautiful blood red. He's a keeper and already thinks he's hot stuff.

Their sisters lay some beautiful green eggs, verging very close on the olive green you find from Olive Eggers.
