The EE braggers thread!!!

Anyone (in California) want this handsome boy!? He's about 17 weeks. I'd love to keep him but I just dont think he's anywhere in the plans. His combs a little sloppy because he's an olive eggerXolive egger (both parents are BCM/EE X's). He should make some pretty awesome babies!

Kind of how she is now - Mostly a buff/golden color with some patterning on the back, tail, and likely neck. The patterning looks to be blue.

CrazyCatNChickenLady He is a very nice looking boy ! Have you posted on the California threads and also there is a CA Yahoo group or two that are active and frequently used for posting. I have one chicken from the Cal yahoo group so you never know. It would be nice if some one could use him.

I wish you were closer, I'd take him in a heartbeat! I had two EE cockerals that I rehomed thinking it would be too many roos (I also have an Am cockerel) and I have regretted it every since! With 16 hens (possibly more to come) and 1-5 acres of free range, I think I could have kept at least one of them.

Awwah You only live a few hundred miles apart.

I know there is a thread for sexing EE and I have read it and am getting pretty good. But I have a question. I hatched a ton of EE and most are solid color so far. They hatched Sept 13 and only a few are flaming roos with bright red combs, when will I know for sure if any others are roos? How old will they be when I can be fairly confident who is a roo? And If anyone can tell me the same thing about NHs and rocks of the same age that would be great! I hatched 26 and only count 6-8 roos so far.

Yea I know ! Two hundred miles is my limit. And I usually combine the drive with a visit with some one or some place. I drove from Death Valley area to Fresno but my son lives near Fresno.

DMRippy I can not comment on the other breeds but in the EEs the birds with the brightest colors are usually males. I hatched a pair and the male was easy to pick out very early. Maybe some one already mentioned this so I might be repeating. There is no sure way to tell until an egg is laid or by behavior and crowing the male is defined and even then there have been stories (rare) of females who act like rooster if there are no males in the flock.
