I am looking at getting an EE because I like variety of color. I'm not sure I quite understand it all though. How do you know what color egg your hen is going to lay or does the same hen lay a variety of colors??? Sorry if my question sounds stupid, I just want to know what I'm getting when I acquire some.

Each girl will lay a unique color and you will get to where you know who laid what egg. EE are like a box of chocolates, you never know what you get inside.... till she lays. EE can lay any color egg, thus the name. Most lay Blue-Green eggs, but some lay brown. Any color egg is ok with EE. The pea comb USUALLY means a blue egg gene, but it will not tell you if that egg will have a brown coating too.
