EE is not a breed. It's a 'nickname' for any chicken that lays a colored egg. It most likely has Araucana or Ameraucana in its genetic makeup. The Ameraucana breeders call purebred Ameraucanas 'EEs' if the don't meet the breed standard or don't breed true 50% of the time.
EE can be a mutt but isn't always.
Ok not a "breed" but then why all the rules? They have green legs, beard, pea comb.. yadda yadda. Wouldn't that be closer to a Ameraucana? I swear I'm not trying to be difficult but it just does not make sense to me. LOL Oh well!
Opal is pretty and she reminds me of my Greta as a chick, who also resembles Cheeka's "blu". Here's Greta at 15ish weeks old, she's lost a lot of the barred feathers in favor of gray flecked with red since this photo was taken. I imagine Opal will look similar to this, but the fun is not knowing right? My white and red hen with a gray head popped two charcoal grey/black looking laced feathers on the back of her neck today at 18weeks old. Every time I think she's finished she changes her colors again!
