Dorkings have 5 toes. She is a SG Dorking and possible mix - her mother was in a pen with with an Ameraucana Roo two weeks before the SG Dorking Roo. The three chicks that hatched were two obvious EEs and her. She looks like pure SG Dorking, but if she lays a blue or green egg then she is an EE too.

That's a breed I'm not famarilar with. Thanks for info. That' why these threads are so great. You get to learn lots of stuff. I really like her coloring! So what is SG?

They are very sweet chickens and the hens are known for going broody at the end of the laying season.

Not sure about the status of the tail, but the comb and thick legs are showing a very nice looking cockerel.

Thanks I know he is a cockerel he try's to jump on my full grown hens with no luck yet everyday...lol I was just wondering about the tail. I really hope he grows "normal" tail feathers, personally I don't like the look of the rump less chickens.

I know what you mean about the rumpless look. Especially on a rooster, I would miss the big tail! My EE pullet was larger and had a bigger tail than the cockerel until about 11-12 weeks, when he must have got a good dose of hormones. He went from having a one feather tail to the makings of a big, glorious tail in a couple of weeks. So, maybe there's still hope for your guy! (He has such nice markings.)

this is marcelo in this pic he is only 4 weeks old rigth now he is 8 weeks old and his comb keeps getting bigger i think it has to do something with their genes or the food idk but anyways hes cute i like him a lot

I love his coloring and pattern. I hear that Aracunas are very good for making blue eggs. If you can keep him and breed him with hens with tails you may make some nice babies with tails.

Do I have a EE cockerel with no tail? At first he looked like he was growing normal tail feathers now they seem to be growing like the Araucana's(sp) I have seen. He's around 10 weeks or so. thanks

My males have kept their tails. But i have several pullets that had long ee tails and now they are rumpless style like yours. I had wondered if they were going to stay short also. So far they have. I also wondered if my goose or ducks may have pulled them. Who knows .

If the legs were a different color, she would not be SOP for that. It is funny how things like leg color make such a difference in breed definition. Yes, for EEs, Black Australorp, RIR, Barred Rock and etc, white is a bad color. Not for Silver Grey Dorkings

I wanted to add blue eggs to my bantam flock and instead of ordering bantam hatchery "americanas" I bought a pretty little black bantam Ameraucan.
She is BRAT and has eaten feather from crests and back of my sweet bantam flcok of several breeds. No ducks or geese are needed here to remove feathers. My full bred Ameraucanas and Marans are very good at that. Never before have I have feather pickers and eaters !!!!!

I can't wait until my full bred birds turn into EEs. It is funy to have a flock of pretty birds who need to wear peepers on their face. I only wish that they came with a sun glass lense.
